Discussion: Anti-Pelosi Faction Wants To Limit Her Time As Speaker To Four Years

Every anti-Pelosi should be asked the same question: ā€œwho do you support, then?ā€

It’s not enough to simply be against someone, you have to be for someone.

Instead of looking for some ridiculous pledge, how about building someone up who can take the reins when they are ready?

The group of Democrats who have indicated opposition to Nancy Pelosi’s bid to be speaker of the House are proposing

FFS how about some names? Oh, let’s go to Politico,

a group of House Democratic rebels

Little did I know I’ve been migrated to Context-Free Prime.

And these morons are part of the reason the Dems ā€œcan’t have nice things.ā€ ā€œNice thingsā€ like a caucus that’s focused in its efforts to undo Shitgibbon’s damage and destruction.

I trust Nancy’s abilities to get things done, but Moulton et al. should focus their efforts on something useful, rather than trying to hamstring her…

Dear Group,

Nancy Pelosi is 78. Nature just might limit her term to 4 years (god forbid). Plus, you’ve only got two on your plate right now. How about you focus on that?

If these people can’t keep a united front, they need to get fired our the door.

That needs repeating with emphasis. When that are ready! A few people seem to want inexperience over experience, even going so far as to suggest that not yet sworn in House members be considered for speaker!

Why not two years until 2020? With her being the subject of Trumps twitters in the next 2 years, why not train someone to take her place, then when the 2020 election occurs, all of Trumps disgusting twitters regarding her will become moot. I understand she doesn’t want to become a ā€œlamp duckā€ however, she doesn’t have to announce her resignation until about one month before the election.

I’m OK with Nancy as long as she’s kicking butt.
There is also a quiet joy because it causes Republicans to become unhinged when they are beat up by a 78 year old grandma
Think Golda Myer who was vital until the end and Ruth Ginsberg still going strong

Yup. I’m sure she would love to be a mentor to a couple of these people, train them in all of the skills that they need. I’d be happier if i heard the group asking to learn from her so that they would be ready to step up in a few years.

Could we please just get a little ways down the road of 2019. Nancy Pelosi as speaker is not the main event in the next year. There is a criminal in the White House and in congress and you need to focus on those kind of changes.

This is a job that requires years of building long term relationships in Congress and gaining allies. Through those relationships gaining the power to swing votes, and yes, convince donors to give to the party. It takes many years to do that well and effectively. Those are just two examples. Again, this takes years and isn’t something to ā€˜train for’ in 18 months.

How to limit Pelosi’s time as Speaker: Find and develop someone who can be effective in the job.

Oh for Christ’s SAKE. STOP IT YOU MORONIC FOOLS. Do your WORK. Talk in private. Stop the punitive cutting of power. You look like aholes…the SAME aholes you’re replacing. Let Pelosi do her job. She’s better than you. LEARN. Use your right to VOTE and do it in two years. Stop smearing the Dems NAME…you really don’t have to HELP Trump and the crusty old white men contingent in the Senate. WTF if wrong with you???

These rebels need to give this shit up. We’re in a constitutional and existential crisis. We need Nancy’s leadership.

Here’s the thing- I’m totally on board with grooming a new generation of Democratic leaders. A combination of an absence of Gen X Democratic politicians and Baby Boomers’ refusal to relinquish power has brought us to the point where we really do not have a deep bench. But there is something about the way Moulton et al have handled this that rubs me the wrong way. The media have somehow turned this into a narrative about young progressive seeking to oust the out of touch old guard. But Moulton is not centrist, not progressive. He is not part of the Bernie insurgency that the media love to write about. If there’s a battle for the soul of the Democratic party, Moulton is not in it. He’s battling for his own power.
I am also deeply suspicious of the rancor directed at Pelosi who has been incredibly effective when Schumer has been largely shielded despite the losses and his incredibly week performance. It feels too much like Pelosi has the target on her back because she is a woman, and as much as I am ready for a new generation to lead, I am not down with this move. The good news is that Pelosi is smart and savvy and she will run circles around Moulton and his crew. The notion that his dwindling band of contrarians is in a position to negotiate anything is laughable. Why the media are not treating it as such is beyond me…

WTF is wrong with these people?

How about deciding on whether she should remain speaker in 4 years not now but…you know…in 4 years? I know, crazy concept.

This is one thing that can drive one crazy about the Dems is not being united when it is totally necessary. The Rethugs are always in lock step and we don’t want to be like them, but come on.
