Discussion: Anthem Policy 'Did Not Come Up' In NFL's 'Open Talks' On Social Issues

It seems endorsing a statement of “Black people should not be shot in the back and killed by police after being pulled over for an inoperable turn signal light” wouldn’t be controversial.

You know what they should do? Lay flat on their backs during the anthem to honor the “fallen” soldiers AND the victims of police brutality. Let Trump and the right chew on that one.

Give him Hell Squirrel!

For Colin Kaepernick and many more the issues about his expressing himself over Blacks being killed by police is his father’s fight.

My team the Green Bay Packers, the team I have watched, cheered, celebrated and cried over for almost 60 years is in need of a Quarterback. The question for the Green Bay Packers is, are the Packers as good as their heritage.

In 1965 NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle called the Green Bay Packer head coach and general manager to complain that one of his players, Lionel Aldridge, wanted to marry a White woman. Rozelle told the Packer coach he must not allow an active “colored” member of his team to marry a White woman. Immediately upon hanging up the phone, the head coach called Aldridge into his office to discuss the matter. Aldridge admitted he wanted to marry the person but was concerned of the problems it would cause the coach and the Packer organization. The Green Bay Packer head coach and General Manger at the time, Vince Lombardi, asked "Lionel, do you love her? Aldridge said, “with all my heart.” Lombardi asked, “you going to treat her well?”. Aldridge said “I will give her my best.” Lombardi responded, “Lionel, you should marry that girl.” Aldridge ran out of the meeting ecstatic announcing to his team he had Lombardi’s blessing to get married.

Less than an hour later Pete Rozelle called Lombardi to demand an explanation “I told you ……” Lombardi’s explanation was “this is my team and you cannot tell me what to do with my team.” Lombardi than added a few words that would be censored by most message boards and hung up the phone. Lombardi’s team would win the next three NFL championships including the first two Super Bowls.

Colin Kaepernick is a talented Quarterback who does not have a team because he used his fame to protest Blacks being murdered by police. If Vince Lombardi needed a quarterback there is no doubt Kaepernick would get a call.

For most White football, baseball and basketball fans the most contact they have in a year with Black people is watching them play sports. They don’t want to think or hear about how Blacks are treated off the field.

But that’s a chipmunk. Is he your back up?

with both players and league executives saying the meaning of the protests has been misconstrued by the president and his supporters.

Deliberately misconstrued.

If this is not an altered photo, then TPM needs to give it coverage. Arrowhead stadium maybe last weekend.
First saw it on Facebook, so there’s that…

How is this supposed grievous insult to the honor and memory of fallen heroes, not completely diffused and blunted by Rump’s failure to call their families for 13 days? Hypocrisy is banal, but damn.

Play this at the home game:

and this at the rock concert:

It takes one minute to honor America. All the rest is the NFL honoring itself.

Wow. Didn’t know Governor Grietens had ordered such good care of the Union flag. I bet he honors the Confederate one a lot better when looking for votes in MO.
