The players can stand or not. I would confuse patriotism with saluting. The owners see it as a PR problem which will hurt their business. Actually I think the terrible call in the Jets-Patriots should worry them more.
As far as Kaepernick the football player. I would never try to evaluate his skill and ability to help a team I am not a football coach and I assume no one on this board is either. It just seems that the longer he sits out the better he gets.
I believe it came up. Not the policy, which suggests that everyone should stand, but evidently the language is not “must”. This was a time for owners and players to have a discussion. And according to most, it went well.
