Discussion: Angela Merkel Spouts Thinly-Veiled Trump Criticisms At Harvard Commencement

I can see Trump ranting about not being invited to Harvard and calling Merkel names in a few hours.

Thanks for inviting her to give the address, Harvard. It’s good to see the leader of the free world being given an opportunity to speak in America.

Ignorant and narrow-minded: That’s Donnie, for sure! No daylight there!

This is tangential…

Trump was asked about Impeachment and actually said that the “courts wouldn’t allow it”.

Trump is truly a mob boss.

And an ignorant one at that. He has had months and months to get the same understanding of the Impeachment process as a junior in High School (like I did).

He has lawyers who surely can explain it to him.

This tells me that the people around him are zookeepers and that Trump is far more reactive and doing Putin’s directives by rote than most people think.

Sour grapes on Donnie Two-scoops’ part.

He was already busy in Colorado Springs giving a commencement address at one of the handful of places that will have him: the service academies (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard), Bob Jones “U”, and Falwell’s Liberty “U”. Can anyone think of another?

Spouts? WTF, TPM? Angela Merkel spouts? Disgusting! Shame on TPM!

At least Harvard had the smarts not to invite tRump or probably no one would have attended. The Air Force Academy must have been desperate to invite this nincompoop.

The Air Force Academy is a hotbed of evangelical christo-fascist recruitment.

Trump doesn’t like female leaders of countries, and doesn’t like the Countries of Europe (traditional allies). He favors countries with murderous tyranical leaders.

His bff Kim in the news today:

His bff and apparent boss Putin, along with Assad:

And sadly what is Trump doing? Talking America First to Airfoce Academy grads

Sorry to have to say this, but in 2019 I’d stake my future more on Merkel and the path Germany is on, than that of Trump (and sadly all uf us since he’s pres), and his bff and allies.

Right, she was Spielin’ not Spoutin’.

Of course he does. He’d love to be able to purge his cabinet and staff with executions on the White House lawn.

Much more satisfying than just rage-tweeting, for sure.

Why did Cheeto Mussolini choose the "Air Force Academy’?

It is a hotbed of Evangelical Dominionism where cadets of “other” faiths are harassed by other cadets and the teaching staff, physically assaulted, have their grades reduced because they have not been “saved by Jesus”, and in some cases driven out of the academy altogether by the “group-think” of the officers and staff who run it.

The mid-to-upper echelons of the Air Force have been systematically infiltrated (there is no other word for it) by Evangelical Dominiionists over the last 20 years to the point where the Joint Chiefs don’t even trust the Air Force anymore, with the Air Force Dominionists running indoctrination programs from within the Pentagon with Pentagon money.

I’m sure that the only thing McConnell talks to Trump about is the judges Trump nominates and McConnell pushes through. So in Trump teeny brain impeachment which requires the Senate to convict = courts.

Really the only place safe for Donnie Moscow will be in prison, the set routine, no decisions to make, and then and only then will we have peace in the valley to heal. I’m just trying to figure out how to get McConnell in the cell next to Trump.

I’m fine for Donnie Moscow to be in Moscow as the alternative. Maybe Putin will give him a lavish apartment for all his efforts.

No. She was speaking the plain and simple truth:

“Protectionism and trade conflicts jeopardize free international trade and thus the very foundations of our prosperity. Wars and terrorism lead to displacement and forced migration. Climate change poses a threat to our planet’s natural resources.”

She said to applause that “we can and must do everything humanly possible to truly master this challenge to humankind.”

Ms. Merkel also urged the graduates to “tear down walls of ignorance” that feed nationalism and isolationism, and to remember that democracy “is not something we can take for granted.”

The chancellor received a sustained standing ovation for her entreaties to respect others and embrace honesty — “and perhaps most important, be honest with ourselves.”

Why trivialize these thoughts with words like “spout” and “spiel”?

No, I sadly have to disagree with you on where Trump should be confined. Allowing a former, illegally confirmed, US President to hide out in a foreign country will make Trump a martyr, we don’t need that on top of him being the 'chosen one". Beside America First, or something like that.

Oh, I’m not talking confinement. I’m talking a life in exile. So long as he leaves NOW and stops fucking up the Country.

Here’s her speech in it’s entirety for anyone who is interested… It’s 36 minutes, but well worth the time. She spoke on a variety of topics in only a way that someone who isn’t worried about re-election would. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebiQiAima7w

I agreed with you from the get-go, just couldn’t resist being a wise-a-guy with a clever quip.
