It almost makes you forget about yesterdays school shooting.
I didnāt watch it, actually. But I read a few minutes ago he picked the flowers for her bouquet from Dianaās garden. That was touching. They seem like good guys by all accounts. Certainly more duty-minded than our own princelings.
Still celebrating feudalism, a good 200 years since the American and French revolutionsā¦Dressed up in comments here as enjoying celebrity, of course, true to the ever-continuing Me Generation ethos that dominates the U.S.
Iād forgotten about it until actually just before their vows, so I missed the first half. Had it playing while I was doing some chores around the house, and must say it really was nice escapist hour or so.
Iāll take that as a rhetorical question.
Didnāt plan to watch but I leave the TV on while I sleep and I awoke to that preacher talking about love. He spoke a loooooong time . I then saw the exchanging of vows and must admit; it was quite touching. I really like Harry; I think heās very handsome (red-headed menā:heart_eyes:) and he seems like a really decent guy. She scored big time. Theirs is a beautiful story and I wish them both well.
I slept through the whole thing but from the picture looks like she wore the Spencer tiara. Iād kill to get to wear a tiara sometime but it isnāt looking likely.
Congratulations, Britain, you got one of our best ones.
edit to add: Nope, that wasnāt the Spencer tiara, it was one of Queen Maryās tiaras.
Lighten up, Francis. By commenting in English youāre demonstrating your own tacit acquiescence in centuries of British imperialism. Unless you want to comment in the Native American language indigenous to where you live, Iām not having it. Itās the weekend, OK? Relax.
x gazillions.
Nice sentiment. Me too.
The Clooneys were there.
Her dress was gorgeous! So are the two of them. Stephanie Ruhle and Katy Turek were so funny, because of not enough sleep, but Stephanie loved the performance of āStand By Me.ā She said that we need that now.
Nice to see the happiness and hope today.
Yep. It was a gorgeous occasion.
Did you see Serena Williams in her pink outfit? Whoa!!
I have my fancy tea cups and saucers and tea pot collected at flea markets over years ready to go to a late-morning brunch and viewing party. Yay!
O what fun! I love teapots too. I have a small collection of mostly Asian teapots. Itās such a wonderful form. Teapots and bowls.
I hope your viewing party is a fabulous time.
Anytime anyone finds happiness, even for a day, itās a cause of wild celebration. Finding someone to share your life is no small thing. Symbols do matter. For instance:
Well, two scoops cares and is a deep pre-tweet pout after seeing pictures showing the royal wedding drew a larger crowd than his own ignorgurgitation.
This! All of this right here! As a black woman, Iād be lying if I said I havenāt cried more than half a dozen times this morning. WE have arrived. Again. Black people, African Americans especially, have been largely shut out of these spaces. Sure, we could be African royalty, but British Royalty? Until Meghan came along it was unthinkable. It was unthinkable to imagine our beauty and grace would ever be appreciated by the likes of the literal stuffiest whitest white people on the planet.
The British Royal Family threw down the gauntlet and said, āEnough!ā Enough racism, enough of this rejection of multiculturalism, enough of exclusion. The wedding was unapologetically black. And that was no accident. Nothing we saw was accidental except for maybe the childrenās faces. Itās not about the wedding as beautiful as it was. It was about the royal family sending a message to the world about who they will be going forward and who we should all be.
