There is simply no compelling urgency, nor need to put someone with such grave questions hanging over him on the Supreme Court. There is no right or entitlement to such an office and there are plenty of other equally qualified people without this baggage. Not only should there be a full investigation, but the committee must call all witnesses in person so they can be cross-examined. No court in the land would accept declarations, sworn or not, in lieu of live witnesses who are easily available to testify.

Republicans have to double down before the public has time to fully understand how hideous and unprofessional Kav’ s performance was, but they’re fooling themselves if they think the taint will dissipate.

The Republican Party no longer considers the Supreme Court to be a deliberative body of deep and diverse thought about our foundational principles.

Rather, Republicans consider the Court to be a simple blunt instrument to enforce a single, narrow ideology about the service of individuals to corporate and government aristocrats.

Especially the service of girls and women. They’ve got definite ideas for them.

This gives the cowards Collins, Murkowski, Flake some cover

There are like maybe 50-ish people who hold the fate of women’s freedom and likely our liberty in their hands; certainly justice and due process are not in the forefront of their thinking. Did I say 50-ish? Maybe 3 or 4 really who are struggling to do the right fucking thing, and the calculus is not around you and I but centered on their political future. If he is confirmed, the Republican brand is hopefully and irrevocably destroyed.

Well there goes his credentials, the ABA and the Jesuits pulling their support.
Is Mr K going to stomp his feet some more, blame Clinton again, start calling all wonen whores because they force him to rape them?

Kavanaugh came off like a man fighting his own demons. The need to go over his accomplishments in academics, sports, civic engagement, etc over and over again sounds like he was actively fighting Satan or something.

Cover for what? Cowards in what way?

Cover to do the right thing and vote no. Cowards that they need cover to do the right thing.

They are still going with the belligerent, lying rapist are they?

I have to think McConnell’s plan must be to have a vote before next week’s polls hit wavering Senators. No time should be allowed for head’s to leave those holes in the sand.

True. It’s like the repeated invocation of his “life well lived” would negate the deeds of his youth. I have the impression that’s a tenant of born-again-ism, that living a certain way is atonement for prior sins.

The panicky, entitled repetition of the life-story mantra was probably realization that the charade wasn’t working.

Last night I stopped watching the News and refrained from destroying my Liquid Crystal Television set with the remote control when they had a clip of Flake wringing his hands (yet again) in agony, saying how close a decision this decision was for him. You WERE in the same room as Kavanaugh yesterday, were you not, gutless Motherfucker?

I couldn’t help noticing how fervent he was in reminding everyone that he played football.
