Yes, the original decision was race politics at its worst.
Youâre right governor, it is racial politics at its worst from YOUR SIDEâŚyou donât want to be associated with George Wallace then require the ignorant legislators in the Republican caucus to STOP acting like George Wallace!
One word: Projection.
I agree, the Republicans are practicing race politics.
Pay attention to Kansas. Kris Kobach is crushing voter registration there using a voter ID law.
Remember, itâs only ârace politicsâ when you forget to use dog whistles.
Governor Chicken Embryo says what?
Whining about the situation youâve created is not a resolution to the problem.
There are provisions still intact in the Voting Rights Act that can place Alabama under scrutiny requiring court approval for any further actions. This action should be sufficient to trigger those provisos.

Government grinds slowly. By the time any remedial actions are in place, the next presidential election will have come and gone. Mission Accomplished!
As long as you are going to insult my intelligence, why donât you piss in my face and tell me itâs raining?

GOP to a tee.
There was a time not too long ago when accusing minorities of playing the race card would have caused minorities to use more caution in calling out these racist, but those days are long gone.
. I know most of them (blacks in the affected counties losing driverâs license offices) are not going to vote Republican.
Of courseâthatâs your bottom line.
âThey are wrong on this issue,â said Bentley. âEveryone can get a
license and everyone can get a voter ID. They (critics) really donât
have anything to talk about. Itâs politics at its worst. And itâs race
politics at its worst.â
SirâŚMr Gov. have you ever tried to get a driverâs license when the office IS CLOSED??? Or tried to vote w/o ID that has a picture on it?
Hmmm?
One way the folks could get around your stateâs obstruction would be to get a passport card that certifies their citizenship status. Of course thatâs around $100 and a 4 month waitâŚif those forms are available to black folks.
Alabama government⌠following in the steps of George Wallace standing in the door of the U of Al. preventing black kids from getting an education.
I find it odd that the places the driverâs license offices are closed are predominantly in majority black counties⌠donât you find that odd Mr Governor? Yes those folks could go to an open office in another county but by what conveyance? Driving w/o a license? Walking 20-50 or more miles? Do we need another march across the Edmund Pettice Bridge to get the point across?
Get rid of voter ID. ThereâŚsolved!
SO if you enact racist legislation, and I have the temerity to object, âIâm practicing racial politics at its worseâ.
Dear Lord, when did they legalize pot in Alabama? Did I miss the meeting?
Governor, please tell us what problem is being solved by requiring voter ID in the first place. How many documented cases of voter fraud were there to spark this change? If you can give us a compelling number, you have a sound position. If not, Alabama is still George Wallaceâs state.
No! Itâs really just like Abu Ghraib⌠where neocons decided what the problem was - and promptly banned cameras, not what the pictures showed.
Why, who allowed cameras in here? = Why, who placed a DMV office (where black people can just happen to register to vote) in this county?
I never believe a word they say, and the fake outrage is also a smokescreen. Lies, lies, lies.
