Discussion for article #233163
Makes it very difficult to call oneself a proud american.
Give the cop a break ā¦ he probably thought was some weird looking of black or mexican or maybe a mooslim, in either case it would have been a justified use of force.
Welcome to Fox News World.
----we let it happen.
I donāt know how āweā let it happen. I am curious how you came to that conclusion
On Monday, Madison police released a statement to AL.com that said the officer involved had been suspended and was being investigated for his use of force. The statement also wished Patel a āspeedy recovery.ā
Thatās Police Flack for āweāre soooooo throwing him under the bus.ā
Ronald Reagan and his ilk let it happen. His administration worked diligently to change existing laws and FCC rules and regulations so Rupert Murdoch could get a foot in the door both as a citizen and as a media magnate.
Agree totally. Murdoch offering Newt Gingrich the 4 mill book contract in return for allowing foreign nationals (i.e. Murdoch) to own US media companies. Beginning of the end.
Guiliani getting Fox News onto NYC cable. Another nail.
sure hope madison, alabama has a good insurance policyā¦ medical expenses for paralysis and ongoing careā¦ not to mention the lawsuit judgment theyāre going to be hit with.
also, tooā¦ if this man has been there living with his son and taking daily walks, it seems unlikely someone in the neighborhood would make a call. i assume there arenāt too many indian families on that block, and surely the neighbors would have recognized him as likely their neighborā¦ southern hospitality and allā¦
I donāt like,at all,how I feel inside when I read about incidents like this one.
Arenāt these cops trained to have ANY damn situational-awareness AT ALL??
Fkkkkkk Me!!!
The Christian thing to do now is to paralyze the cop who did this. An eye for an eye is what the Bible says.
He should have known that, walking while brown in Alabama would get him into trouble.
Alabama: the last refuge of people too stupid to exist elsewhere, and Iām talking about the ones in charge of the state, not ordinary citizens.
It makes me think itās sort of like the āswattingā game, where some jackass makes a call to the police to send a panicked cry for help in order to get a SWAT team sent to someoneās house, usually a celebrity or a rival in some online game (yes, thatās a real thingā¦and they even use tech to mask the phone). Except here, angry white bigots in the neighborhood know that the police can be counted on to reliably physically abuse and batter anyone who dares to be brown in their precious white neighborhood and so, angry about him walking their sidewalks and angry about his family moving in next door, they could call in the AL cops and depend on them to show up and beat the guy silly for no reason whatsoever.
I beg to disagree, it is possible that someone in the neighborhood could have placed the call. We are talking about Alabama. The person probably thought he was Mexican and the cop probably dislike immigrants, especially one that says, āno English.ā
Kinda like Henry Louis Gatesā neighbor didnāt recognize him either. I lived in a neighborhood where I was one of a few African Americans. Most of my neighbors didnāt know me, and I didnāt know them. We would recognize each other from being out doing yardwork and whatnot, but didnāt have too many conversations. There was a time or two when a couple of them didnāt recognize me when I was out doing something in the alley, and that could have easily led to the police being called on me.
Bobby Jindal might want to skip the GOP Alabama primary.
I hope youāre right and that a jury there isnāt dissuaded from helping him because heās not American.
And YOU the taxpayer pays for the inevitable large lawsuit settlement.
The real problem are the moron supervisors who keep hiring poorly trained idiots who should have never been hired in the first place.
I share your hope for justice in court. But if itās a jury trialā¦ who knows?
