With Drumpfie & Co, the first version of events is never the truth. Nor is the second nor the third. When they have finally hit the vilest, most cowardly and most childish version imaginable, you know you have finally hit the bedrock under the pile of BS.
I truly find the part where no lie they tell, even lies that contradict yesterday’s lies, no longer give the slightest pause to the feral Trumpers. Even after all these years of saying the rank and file of the right has voluntarily put itself under the kind of thought control and hysterical disregard for objective reality that Orwell thought it would take a ruthless, omniscient police state to impose, I find it shocking and terrifying.
People intrinsically have an enormous capacity to believe things that confirm and affirm their existing biases and prejudices and tune out disconfirmatory information. I’m not immune to it. But good God, I’d like to think that if Obama had told me one day that the chocolate ration was thirty grams and the next day took credit for raising it to twenty, I would have noticed and my faith would have been shaken and I wouldn’t have just tuned it out.
Yeah, there were many times when we got “this is what we know today and it turns out it’s more than we knew yesterday, so our story is changing” stories. And the right jumped all over those, to this day cherishes them in their canon as “Obama Lies” (and, of course, “Clinton Lies”). But I’d really like to think that if I got conflicting stories about things that were necessarily within Obama’s own personal knowledge, I would have noticed and said “they’re just standing there and lying to our faces in a way that demonstrates total contempt for my intelligence, for democracy and for objective reality.”
Robert Bork, a cautionary tale.
The Trumpsters deflect, shade the truth, alter the truth, and lie with such ease.
When truth is a flexible commodity that exists solely to justify or excuse your behavior, this is the type of thing that happens. Each successive revelation only complicates or obscures the ones that came before. The actual facts only become murkier.
In 110 days, this administration has demonstrated both its day to day incompetence, and its total lack of strategic thinking. They can’t correctly anticipate the effect of their statements and actions, nor do they seem to understand why their bullshit doesn’t seem to satisfy anyone. As badly as I dislike everything that Trump stands for, I never expected him to be as bad at this as he clearly is.
The next time some idiot repeats the false statement that we need to run government like a business, we need only point to the Trump administration to refute them. They are the Enron of government.
Even Mourning Joe was railing against the Lie Factory that is the Trump administration.
You have to wonder what’s going through their heads as you know they all tune in or watch it on delay
Joe’s tough message to republicans: http://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/joe-s-tough-message-to-republicans-941318211768
I agree wholeheartedly.
However, I am (perversely) thankful that he has turned out to be so completely and totally batshit crazy that you can’t ignore it. If he had shown any bit of normalcy, so that he just seemed like weird Uncle Harvey, it could have made it possible to “mainstream” him to some level and he would have been even more dangerous than he already is. Luckily for us, he is clearly delusional, as his inner circle — he’ll bring himself down. And his little dogs too.
I, on the other hand, have been relieved that he has not yet dropped a nuke on some country that annoys him - or CA. In that regard, I am pleasantly surprised that he’s marginally better than I had feared.
Trump: I told you that I am not a racist. Most think I am really smart:
Can’t say I care for Joe’s message. If he were serious, he would say “Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker, and you know what? I would in favor of her becoming speaker tomorrow, because Republicans are worthless”. No, he has to carry water for his party to the end.
Hey Trump,
We have noticed that you have been looking peculiarly Bannon-ish this week. It isn’t getting any better. Wouldn’t you rather be out scouting new locations for new hotels rather than deal with this dreary running the country stuff? Surely, as a hounding critic of the Former President, you realized this was going to entail much more criticism than praise? You didn’t? Well who knew it was so complicated and unpleasant.
Just think of the joy you could have on an alt-reailty tv 24 show. The Trump-man Show. Such a big platform from which to advocate change - with none of the constraints of the Presidency, or responsibility for actually working to create policies to create change. Freedom Donnie, it beckons you. You don’t want to keep devolving into a Steve Bannon look alike, do you?
Easy solution Don: Resign.
But…but…Benghazi! n’ …You can keep your doctor! n’…quick, look over there! (Runs away to hide in the bushes)
My first thought when Comey was fired was, Trump [as a mouthpiece for Priebus/Kushner] promised Rosenstein a seat on the Supreme Court.
@benthere It’s easy when your fans expect so little of you.
We should know by now the citizens of the U.S. have standing orders to not take anything the president says literally. I’m reasonably sure that directive has never been repealed. While that benefits the Republicans in that they don’t need to take credit for the man-child’s actions or behavior, it does leave the rest of the world in a quandary.
President Chaos knows what he is doing. It’s called baffle us with bullshit and move on. Who has time to look into every lie the trump Administration tells. Just assume everything that comes out of them is b.s.
Impeachment clock.
Tick, tick, tick, tick…
So, they are still sending out Sarah Huckabee Sanders since Spicer is on Naval Reserve duty. Yesterday they had to shove her behind the lectern because Trump didn’t think there would be any controversy over Comey’s firing. I can’t listen, but I watched the clip from yesterday & today - she rarely looked up from her recitation and she kept fidgeting with her arms - especially her left one. She does much better sitting behind a desk, but she sure does blink a lot and uses her hands way to much. I thought she kept shifting her eyes to the side but when I rewatched, she keeps looking straight at the camera, and doesn’t shift her head much at all - it’s a bit weird, but I guess she’s had a lot of practice (as a preacher/politician’s kid) to control her body language.
OT:
I’ve just become aware that the head of the Census Bureau has resigned.
The potential ramifications of a Trump inspired warped census count could haunt this country for years to come, long after he is gone.
Nobody knew that getting everyone to believe your lies about such easily disprovable things could be so hard.
Timing is everything.
Trump was happier yesterday, meeting with Russians, than any time in his tenure.
These Russians are ridiculing all of us, they consider the American voter a big sucker.
This certainly proved Colbert right.
