Information on the racial identity of the snipers has been spotty. It is as though Justice Roberts (he of “Post Racial America” fame) has been the editorial consultant for every media outlet.

Those officers that were killed or wounded in Dallas had zero to do with LEO shootings in LA or MN.
Do not conflate the two.
Dallas was a premeditated ambush.
Three suspects are alive and in custody. That in itself is an anomaly.
The idea should be to mentally separate these events in the eyes of the MSM-viewing public.
But it won’t start out that way. And it’s going to be some effort to change this initial perception.
I really, really want to hear something from the shooter/suspects.
But that won’t happen for quite some time.

That statement isn’t about BLM supporters.
It is meant towards any minority person out there that will use the killing of innocent black people as a justification to kill or harm officers.
That to me has nothing to do with Black Lives Mater.
It should all be looked at the same: unjust killings are unjust killings. That doesn’t mean BLM is wrong, or we should buy into the ‘All Lives Matter’ bullshit. That’s just a paen to attempt to distract from the disproportionate levels of violence and danger from overzealous authoritarian cops that minorities - especially African Americans - face in this country.
At the same time, as I’ve mentioned before I’ve got a number of cops in the family, and know a number more, and they are uniformly (no pun intended) angered and outraged at the levels of police violence - including my cousin, who’s a cop down in Houston. Poorly-trained police who can’t de-escalate a situation, who cling tightly to their prejudices, and who use violence as anything but an absolute last resort piss them off. It makes their lives - the lives of decent cops who don’t break the rules - harder in a myriad of ways, from eroding community trust to endangering the lives of police and civilians by increasing the amount of tension in the air in any interaction with police, especially for minorities.
The cops who were killed and injured last night, by all accounts, were engaged and interacting with the protestors. It was a peaceful protest, and the DPD and DART cops specifically made the call to stay out of any of the body armor or other special situation gear that has been the hallmark of police paranoia in places like Ferguson. They were talking with protesters, making sure everyone was ok (Outside in Dallas in July - not always a great experience), and otherwise trying to be a part of the community they serve. They were trying to do it the right way.
And the guys who shot them were not part of the protest. The ‘person of interest’ in the photo that was circulated last night apparently turned his gun in to the cops (and it was unloaded) at his brother’s urging when the shooting started, and later surrendered himself for questioning. Given the sounds we heard from the video footage, and the level of body armor we know the shooters were using… I’m not sure, when all’s said and done, that the weapons will be anything that can be legally purchased - or if they are, they’re likely to have been modified for more than just semi-automatic fire.
This appears to have been organized and operated like a military operation, and I suspect there’s a paramilitary group at the bottom of it all.

Unfortunately, what appears to be a chief suspect, and possibly the shooter, was killed by a robot bomb sent in by the Dallas police. While I understand that the suspect was in a shooting situation, we now will learn nothing directly from the person. Was he alone? What was his motivation (assuming rational belief is possible)?
The robot bomb itself is a new development. I am not 100% happy to see something like that being deployed.
The reason I ask is because there are a lot of comments that appear to assume the suspects may be BLM supporters (ie, black people), but I haven’t found anything that identifies the shooters in any way. The police haven’t released any details, and I certainly can’t tell from the video I’ve seen.
Multiple shooters. Motivations will not be impossible to discover. And the robot bomb was likely a bomb-disposal unit rigged up with a device because it wasn’t just ‘a shooting situation’, but the guy was in a relatively hardened position, wearing body armor, with what might well have been a fully-automatic weapon, judging by the sound on the video footage.
It’s more likely that after one guy was (apparently) wrongly fingered on national television last night, the media’s trying to avoid stepping on their own dicks now.

All we can be sure of is one side will acknowledge the issues of racial bias, acknowledge the difficult and important job law enforcement performs every day, try to solve real problems and bring the country together.
The other side will spew racial hatred, call for more guns, and use this to rile up their base.
Sad part is I am guessing the shooters, whether they knew it or not, played right into the hands of the second group and probably damaged the cause of BLM.
P.S. if one more person offers or ask for prayers I am going to lose it. Regardless of your religious beliefs this has become the mindless placebo to prevent anything real from being done.
The problem here is thinking there’s a direct cause-and-effect relationship going on between police mistreatment of minorities and an attack like this. Some people have violence in them and attach themselves to causes, or use the cause as justification, so they can commit that violence. You can’t keep those people calm by redressing grievances. They may well find some other reason to kill. This phenomenon plays out in all kinds of situations—the Sovereign Citizen movement comes to mind. They commit violence too, but I doubt you see their grievance as justified or think it should be remedied.

The presidential campaign of Nixon, with his “law and order” position, benefited greatly from the unrest. Every riot brought more support to Nixon.
BLM needs to ask themselves “When we block the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago to protest deaths in Minneapolis and Louisianna, who are we helping?” Because the answer is Donald Trump.
Unrest helps the autocrat, the person who is running on the “strong hand” position.
So, keep blocking the Dan Ryan Expressway and roads in other cities, BLM. Trump is with you at every protest. Keep pissing off possible supporters.
Pretty soon, Trump will be discussing the unrest. Will he use “law and order”? Probably not, he’s too stupid for that. But he’ll say something.
Well, after a quick survey of my Facebook feed this morning, it’s clear that this - like everything else - is Obama’s fault. One cretin actually typed something to the effect of “what do you expect when your president goes on national TV and basically gives black people permission to shoot cops?”

You mean assuming that the shooters are BLM supporters, which we have no way of knowing right now. But even if they are, I would not want to give the impression that this type of violent action is justified in any way.
Right. I’m just saying we don’t even know that (from what I’ve seen so far), so it could very well be white supremacists who are trying to start their race war.
