This is not the way to make things better. What a mess.
This is not the way to make things better.
I suspect that making things better wasnât the goal of the vicious cretins who did it. Theyâre trying to stoke an all-out war between cops and civilians. Nobody wins in that situation.
The cops who shot Sterling and Castile should be prosecuted for murder, and the people who shot these Dallas cops should be as well. I donât have a shred of sympathy for any of them.
Thoughts and prayersâŚthoughts and prayers
Everybody should be accountable for their actions.
Part of the problem is that the police, historically, have zero culpability when they shoot someone. Especially a person of color. No excuse at all for these sniper losers⌠However, our easily available gun culture also makes this possible.
Not excusing what happened, but there is a point of no return. America is fast losing that window of opportunity to put the skids on the toxic climate that threatens the stability of this country. She cannot afford to continue to be reactionary instead of proactive.
True on both accounts. That said, I have to ask our nationâs law enforcement departments: When will youâcollectively-- deal with the root causes of this? When will you systemically address the need to root out the officers with bad intentions? The officers who exhibit biasâracial and other? The officers who exhibit a Rambo attitude? When will you institute policies that prioritize diplomacy, training to better assess when youâre dealing with a child and/or an obviously mentally-challenged person who doesnât even have a gun (wielding just a knife, etc.)? Our local Police Departments are not expected to be an extension of the U.S. Army. Why do you shoot to kill? â In ALL cases?
I ask these questions as someone who has always had a great deal of respect for our law enforcement officers. You folks have a very tough job â one that shouldnât engender fear in the general public, though. I would suspect law enforcement works best when there is a great deal of trust between officers and the public they serve â am I correct here? What do you think is wrong? From your perspectiveâand I think you really need to think about your answer hereâwhat do you think is the problem(s)? ⌠because there obviously is/are problem(s). From your perspective, what do you think needs to happen to bridge this ever-widening gap of trust between you and us? And why? Iâm not saying everything is 100% the responsibility or fault of the police â but youâre not giving us much reason or evidence to think otherwise. I will say this: Thank goodness most folks carry a cellphone with cameras in their pockets nowadays. Otherwise, weâd never be believed ⌠kinda like before. And weâre never going back to those days. So ⌠think about what it is you can do to meet us somewhere much closer to what is fair and right and constitutional. Donât wait too long to get back to us. Thank you.
Edited for spelling.
Hooray, more âthoughts and prayersâ!
Innocent blacks killed by cops: YAWN
Cops killed by blacks: SEND IN THE TROOPS!
Thanks NRA.
Too bad there wasnât a good guy with a gun in the crowdâŚ
Until the police stand up to the NRA, this willl only get worse.
Frankly I am tired of thoughts and prayers.
I have seen what guns do
Shooting each other solves nothing. It just results in carnage.
People need to put the guns down and get a grip.
My god, this video (which is quite graphic) :
These people were no amateurs. That was a straight-out âhitâ put on cops.
Hereâs a suggestion.
Hilaryâsend an email to BLM. Mark it âConfidentialâ. And when the congressional investigation begins, start a dialogue about police and the public, and how we can make things better.
Maybe that way we can get Congress to do their fucking job.
Indeed. On this morningâs local news they made a point of listing/showing the cops that have been killed while on duty in recent years in the region. Not once did they show/list the names of those who have been killed by rogue cops over the same time. âBut it is fair and balancedâŚâ
The NRA is the only winner in this.
This is tragic on so many levels: the deaths that triggered the protest, the deaths of the police officers and the probable effect on society.
The Boston Globe reports that the police and the protestors were on good terms at the end of the peaceful march and were in fact posing together when the shooting began.
While the probable motivation of the shooters has not yet been ascertained that someone with gun training would ultimately snap was merely a matter of time.
This underscores yet again that a gun is not a defensive weapon. Having more guns would not have helped the police in this situation.
We need to be very careful about what kind of society we choose to construct.
I am sure trump will tweet something epically stupid on this horrible tragedy.
As certain as the sun rising in the east.
Edit: âPrayers and condolences to all of the families who are so thoroughly devastated by the horrors we are all watching take place in our country.â
Someone hack Drumpf?
Thank goodness Texas has the Death Penalty and aggressively carries it out.
God bless those killed & wounded police officers and their families.
