A really good idea to me would be a rewrite of the 2nd amendment. Part of that would be to outlaw civilian ownership of body armor and military type automatic rifles. We need to rethink gun possession.
The common thread of all the tragedies of the past few days is that both sides-perpetrators and victims-were armed. The next time someone farts out the âonly way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with gunâ slogan, hit him over the head with a sack of horse manure. Youâll be doing him a favor. We now have a society where citizens and police have to assume the other person is armed to the teeth. This is no way for a civilized society to operate, or even survive.
Ivanka, resident current sex object for the Trump men.
To all those fools that argue they need caches of military-style weapons to protect their freedom from what they consider a tyrannical government: this is what your plans look like when brought to fruition. Those designs predictably play out not as patriotism, but as despicable terrorism.
But, always exercising their white privilege, I suspect the gundamentalist ammosexuals to consider their cause legitimate and to use these circumstances to further indict the BLM movement. They will never admit theyâre advocating the same thing with their âSecond Amendment remedies.â
Hypocrisy, fear, and ignorance are the three-legged stool of the right, and this will only play into their freak show of death in a very detrimental way.
Reversing the Heller travesty would be an excellent start.
That wasnât a Drumpf tweet. Heâll post some nauseating bile as soon as he gets up.
This is horrifying.
This is what happens when you allow everybody to own guns indiscriminately
NRA, I fucking despise you.
I am a reader, itâs how I spend 85% of my free time, even when watching TV I am reading something (newspapers, long form articles, Talking Points Memo, etc.), all of my reading is done on my tablet.
Consequently, it is never far from my hands or line of vision.
Within my different settings and preferences, I get notifications for breaking news. Itâs something I did years ago when I decided to quit watching news broadcasts, I find them incendiary and their delivery to be provocative and reactive.
Last night, my reading was interrupted by an alert of a shooting of law enforcement in Dallas. I glanced at it and my stomach dropped. I dismissed the alert and continued as I was.
36 minutes later came the follow up alert that a sniper targeted police officers in Dallas and three are dead.
By now, that number has increased to five.
Thisis how I feel,
I am now sick to my stomach, heartbroken and feel compelled to say this:
YES, there is a serious problem in this country of police officers killing unarmed black men in unwarranted situations.
YES, the culture that begat this insidious and permeating thinking needs to change.
YES, some of it is racially motivated.
YES, as a woman of color, I will say that we are living in very scary times at the moment in this country.
Having said the above I also need to say the following.
Just as black lives matter and THEY DO, police officers lives matter too.
NOT every cop is a racist black hating officer on patrol.
For every horror story we hear about (and sometimes it feels daily or hourly), there are dozens of positive stories and acts performed by police officers in the anonymity of their daily shifts.
When we target law enforcement officers out of revenge, we are losing not only the morality and humanity of our message and goals, but behaving in a way thatâs no better than that which we fight.
I understand the anger, but, this canât be the way we respond. If this is the path we are heading down, it will be a loosing proposition in a fight we WILL NOT WIN.
We as a community have to find another way.
If, you have gotten this far in reading this post, thank you for taking the time to do so.
I do not presume to speak for anyone but myself. At this moment, have no answers to offer, just emotions.
Violence begets violence.
But when you have these high powered weapons awash in the country, yes, murderous lunatics can get the drop on cops and mow them down. Of all the people who would support vigorous gun control, I would think it would be cops (and many do).
I forgot Iâm 6 hrs ahead of east coast time here in France. Drumpf needs his beauty rest for his coiffure (that thing on his head).
Off topic. This is better than drinking my breakfast from a Stoli bottle. Too much horror.

OddlyâŠvery oddly many cops are NRA members. Logic would dictate they be strong for gun control but many arenât.
Yup! And Useless Ryan and the Republicans will add âa moment of silenceâ and say, âNow is not the time to discuss sensible gun regulations.â blah, blah, blah. And the NRA will say, âThe only way to stop this is more guns.â
All as predictable as a sunrise.
Itâs too early for Donald to be up yet. That was a professional operative.
Iâm sure he predicted it.

And the death penalty will help this how? Will it prevent the next such incident? Donât think so, since the death penalty was in place which this was carried out.
More killing is not the answer. Sheez.
From the Daily Mail:
The byline:
Four gunmen have shot 11 police officers - killing at least five - in a Black Lives Matter protest in downtown Dallas described by President Obama as a âvicious, calculated and despicable attack on law enforcementâ. One of the police officers killed in the attack has been identified as 43-year-old DART Officer Brent Thompson. A second police officer killed in the attack has been identified by his family as Patrick Zamarripa. The shooters opened fire from âelevated positionsâ, picking off officers âambush styleâ as they manned a protest over the deaths of two black men - Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana, police chief David Brown said. Three of the gunmen are in custody. A fourth man, who was engaged in a shootout with police from a parking garage at El Centro College, has killed himself with a shot to the head. The gunman told officers bombs had been planted across Dallas and that âthe end is comingâ. A gruesome video shows a heroic policeman taking on one of the gunmen before he was shot execution-style from point-blank range. Police said two people are being questioned after they were spotted speeding away from the scene of the shooting in a black Mercedes. An officer saw one of the pair putting a camouflage bag in the back of the car before driving off âat a high rate of speedâ. Six police officers have been injured including three who are critical. A female member of the public was also shot. It is not known if the shooters were protesters, however they appear to have been militarily trained. Their motive is not clear. In a statement made from Warsaw, Poland, Obama expressed his âdeepest condolences to the American peopleâ and said he still didnât know all of the facts. Of the victims, he said: 'They were on duty doing their jobs, keeping people safe during peaceful protests⊠I believe I speak for every American, when I say we are horrified and stand united with the police department
AndâŠHe has a plan to stop it ââŠon day one of his administration.â
Seriously, I wouldnât be surprised if he blames the President for commenting last evening on the shootings in LA and MN. A number of the Rightie blog nutjob commentators already are.
Most cops - and most NRA members - support the kind of common sense gun safety measures the NRA opposes. Itâs a gun manufacturersâ lobbying group that pawns its expenses off onto regular people.
Amen sister.
