Discussion: 5 Points On Trump’s Latest False Claims About Voter Fraud In Texas

Everything Republicans and associate RWNJs say is suspect. Everything they say or do must be fact checked.

Any publication that uncritically repeats a Republican or associate RWNJ factual claim or even includes it in the headline or lede without skeptical qualifier(s) is guilty of journalistic malpractice. Full stop.

All of which matters not to Trump’s Qaeda.

Facts?
We ain’t got no facts.
We don’t got to show you no stinkin’ facts.

Quite the irony that it’s Ken Paxton doing this and he’s an indicted felon who keeps out of going to trial by running for office.

I was a non-citizen permanent resident when I got my Texas state ID from the DPS. Since then I became a citizen and have voted. There were around four thousand like me at the naturalization ceremony who registered to vote immediately after taking the oath, and these ceremonies occur at least monthly in major cities. 58,000 voters who do not appear as citizens on the DPS rolls can be explained simply by this particular dynamic.

I bet that explains a lot of them alright. Glad you posted that.

I just spent 5 1/2 hours at the DMV megacenter getting my license renewed. You have to have proof of citizenship now - a passport, expired DL, something.

I’m glad you did it in the winter. The long lines often extend outside for hours in the scorching Texas summer, and they continue to close offices yet insist on voter Id. One may almost suspect bad faith, especially since many are unable to withstand the ordeal.

O I stood outside in a group waiting for almost 20 minutes to be let inside and we were FREEZING. I was shivering so hard I could barely navigate. The whole experience sucked so bad. And last time I had to get a new picture, they had not closed all the smaller DMVs and I went to one close to my house and waited 45 minutes = that’s all.

I didn’t think they’d get to number 3364 by closing time and they didn’t - I saw a clerk at almost 6:30 and they close at 6. I feel so sorry for the people who work for the DMV.

All of the food they bring into this restaurant is raw! ALL OF IT! They are serving you undercooked food! Most customers die of salmonella!

That’s what that 58,000 number sounds like to me.

Congrats on becoming a citizen, btw. Sorry this place is such a mess. We, um… weren’t expecting company?

Thank you!

Let me add my congratulations. I was too busy talking about myself - sorry.

Welcome, so happy to have you and so sorry about the fuck ups.

Thanks Tena. It was actually Trump’s winning that convinced me to take the big step after all these years. I decided to back my longtime voice with a vote and to accept the responsibilities that came with becoming a citizen.

That’s just so awesome. Thank you thank you thank you. I really can’t thank you enough - your vote is so damn important.

I believe all of this can be explained by trumps unique imbecile numbering system, also referred to as Inauguration Counting Kult. ICK.

ICK takes data numbers and multiplies them by a semi-random but meaningful number (for example, the number of lies Trump tells in a month).

Hence via ICK the administration “proved” that there were more people at trumps inauguration than ever. And the same for the fictional Texas voter ID fraud.

Same as my experience in California. I was on a H1B for four years, then green card holder for six. During that time I was registered at our DMV for a drivers license, and I registered to vote immediately after our naturalization ceremony. That was in 2009. I wasn’t able to vote for Obama but as legal permanent resident, I was legally allowed to donate to his campaign, which I did.

These comments involve complicated math, which Trump and his appointees like Kobach just can’t understand. Maybe it would be best to put these explanations in comic book form and pass them out in front of the White House and on the Capital steps. Panel One: non-citizen on student or work visa gets driver’s license. Panel Two: non-citizen gets green card. Panel three: 5 years later, non-citizen becomes naturalized citizen. Panel 4: Newly naturalized citizen registers to vote, immediately. Panel 5: This citizen is caught red-handed as having a driver’s licence when s/he wasn’t registered to vote! Panel 6: show a yuge crowd of 10s of thousands of people like this over the last 22 years who went through this and similar processes. Panel 7: show this comic book mashed in the face of those who are crying voter fraud!

I think you’re onto something with this.

Dollars to donuts says they included tens of thousands of college students in their fake counts.

I posted this at the end of a different thread, and I think it bears repeating…

There is no reason to suspect that anything illegal was going on…

Lets do the math

7.4 million people were naturalized between 2007 and 2016. Texas represents about 8.7% of the population (28.3m/325.7m). If we allocate Texas 8.7% of the naturalized citzens, it comes to slightly under 650,000 people*.

Now at some point in their naturalization process, every one of those people of driving age would have been eligible for a drives license because they had green cards, etc. So when they got their licenses, they would have indicated that they were non-citizens. And once they became citizens, they almost certainly registered to vote, and then voted. So the fact that the state found ONLY 95k and 58K is pretty amazing, imho.

*650,000 is low, of course, since the data included in the survey covered 22 years – and texas probably has a higher proportion of naturalized citizens because of its proximity to the border.
