Good article. The NYTimes should write articles this clear.

From the photo, it is sad to think that a man who likely needs help with wiping his chin after meals, can make such a profound change on generations to come.

Sure, what does Rep. Johnson care about Social Security? He looks like he’ll keel over any time now. What about the rest of us who aren’t at the end of the actuarial table?

It continues to amaze and befuddle me that people like Johnson, who was a POW in North Vietnam for seven years, become such miserable, ungenerous human beings. John McCain at least seems to show the occasional flickering of humanity.

Trump has a rare opportunity here: he can strangle the Rs simply by blocking their (anti)social legislation and crucifying them for it. He could wean their base from the institutional Rs and be well on the way to taking over the R party or setting up his own .

Most of his cabinet / advisory choices have little connection with Rs per se, and some (Bannon) hate them. If he can ruin Ryan and McConnell, as he surely aims to do on the grounds that they’ve dissed him, then he’s King.

Don’t worry all those Russian Oligarchs will coming to America and staying in Trump hotels. Think of the money to be made washing dishes, and changing bed sheets. Who needs Social Security.

Trump saying he won’t cut SS on the campaign trail is no guarantee that he won’t embrace the cuts now. There is nothing consistent about what he says and plans to do. I hate these bastards.

If I use my family as a basis, Trump supporters don’t care what he does, it’s all good. My cousins are on Medicare, Medicaid, SS and one is on Obamacare and Sunday they were saying I hope Trump cuts Medicare/Social Security. My guess (and it’s only a guess) is that they’re convinced that it won’t effect them. They’ll just cut money from those “lazy blacks” instead of the “good hard working white people”. At least they had the decency not to deny they’re a bunch of racists when we called them out on it.

When Congress is ejected from its own entitlements and forced to eat its own cooking on the people’s entitlements, that will be fair, and news.

The long-term success of the US has been its ability to fight corruption. This election signals a major loss in that fight. This is a wishlist of looters, who will take the money out of the treasury and use it for other purposes.

Donald has allowed them to be proud of their racism.

I have to wonder about the end game. One of the lessons of the world wars is that desperate people do desperate things. If Donald’s supporters think they are desperate now, just wait until social services are slashed. The Republicans are deliberately opening up the possibility of a revolt which they, no doubt, intend to crush by turning the US into a military state.

Its not on their agenda until it is.

They are getting their whole wish list on the table, even the stuff they do not plan to go after.

The New York Times has covered Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid and Obamacare completely. It will continue to do so, since lives are at stake.

Maybe you haven’t been reading the newspaper?

“Social Security advocates were shocked last week when Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) (pictured), the chair of the House subcommittee on Social Security, introduced a bill to little fanfare that would impose major cuts to the popular retirement insurance program.”

They must be pretty damned clueless to be “shocked” by this, Monsieur.

Well, I got family members whose children are on SSI. They voted for Trump because they don’t like the “N-Word” in the White House. And when Trump cuts off their SSI and Medicaid, they’ll turn around and blame Obama…

Yes the same propaganda rag that endlessly published any lie to tear down the Clintons and whose “public editor’s” nose is stuck way up Trump’s ass…

What will happen is the exact thing that happened in Western PA when Reagan let the steel industry die–the unemployed workers became hard core Republicans.
