Discussion: 5 Of The Most Damning Revelations That Preceded 'Downton Abbey' Rep's Resignation

Yeah, he could have made a lot more money on the double mileage claims if he was driving something getting more than 15 city, 21 highway, and 17 combined.

Selling to a donor for more than market is what the namesake of the “Golden Dukes” did. Help land Duke into the graybar hotel.

How long before “Presidential-style Lectern” and tons of “Downton Abbey inspired” designer crap show up on Ebay?

After this, the man’s going to need, what was ol’ bible-thumper and shyster extraordinaire Oral Roberts’ term…ah yes…“quick money.”

I understand when Tundra Grifter Palin heard the news about Schock’s resignation, she simply mumbled, “Amateurs! Pffft!”

This is outright theft. Does the thief paying back that which he has stolen exempt him from prosecution?

His resignation just may be an attempt at avoiding a well deserved jail term.

He’s going to be VERY popular in jail!

Typical Republican would perhaps be more accurate.

Schock and Awwwwwww Dammit!

" Schock sold the home to Caterpillar executive Ali Bahaj for $925,000 after having purchased it in 2003 for about $128,000."

That one opens up a particularly nasty can of worms, and probably goes places that no only he, but donors do NOT wish the press to be prying.

The problem with being bought by powerful donors, is when they want to pull you off the stage, there isn’t much you can do to resist.

Losing one bad apple won’t make any difference when the entire grove is toxic. They will just elect another corrupt republican from district 18 as they have done consistently since 1939. It’s a neatly gerrymandered jigsaw puzzle piece that is over 91% white and reliably middle-class; people who constantly vote against their own best interests.

Indeed! I was just thinking of grifter and criminal Randy ‘Duke’ (“Clinton’s Soft on Crime”) Cunningham and a defense contractor paying Duke almost twice the market value of his house. Almost immediately after the purchase millions began to flow to that particular contractor’s company .

In one of Gore Vidal’s essays, he noted, “An honest politician will die broke.” In a lot of ways, this guy seems to have a Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).

But then, God must love crooked Republicans: He made so many of them.

JUCIEST??? Come on, TPM. In a headline, no less.

Works for me.

And better yet, it’s not even taxed. I’d be curious to see if he also deducted the mileage on his IRS forms.
