Discussion: 1974 Gov’t Document Appears To Show Both Of Cruz’s Parents As Canadian Citizens

Actually, I have a more fundamental question about Ted Cruz.

Is he actually a human being?

I find the way Trump uses the word disgusting to be disgusting. I mean really revolting, stomach turning.

The Mrs. Betty Bowers model, no doubt. Whoa, GLORY!

Edit: Since it’s Alberta Rafael’s strap-on, it’s probably shaped like a Canadian bacon.

They talk funny up there, eh.

The phrase “natural born citizen” meant something very different to the Founders than what we’ve been told it means. The Founders were fearful that a European would gain the American presidency so that’s the phrase they settled on according to the Constitutional scholars who were interviewed.

Yep, he’s the original Manchurian candidate alright. And to think he’s been that lone sleeper cell living among us all this time just waiting to take over and turn everything topsy-turvy when he gets into the Oval Office. He just needed a little trigger of sorts to set the plan into motion.

More like a redux of Canadian Bacon

Natural Born means citizen at birth. That’s the clear intent. The constitution should be amended as follows, if you ask me:

To qualify for president, a person must be a citizen for at least 20 years and reside in the united states for at least 10 years prior to running. To become a citizen, a person must be the child of a citizen who has lived in the united states, or live in the united states for 5 years. After 5 years of residency, citizenship and voter registration is automatic.

Simple, huh? It’s basically an extension of No Taxation without Representation.

Reaction of Canada’s Head of State to the proposal that Alberta Rafael be sent back to his home country:

And since he renounced his Canadian Citizenship, this makes him stateless. In light of this, as a gesture of good will, the United States should extend “Non-Citizen Resident Status” to him. You know, like Samoans. Let him pay taxes, and live here, but for god sakes don’t let him vote!

so Cruz is the dick of God, oh so ready to f*** the rest of us

Interesting. Alberta Rafael may not be eligible to renounce his Canadian citizenship.

To be eligible to apply to renounce your Canadian citizenship, you must:
•be a citizen of a country other than Canada or become a citizen of a country other than Canada if your application to renounce is approved
•not live in Canada
•be at least 18 years old
•not be a threat to Canada’s security or part of a pattern of criminal activity
•not be prevented from understanding the significance of renouncing your Canadian citizenship by reason of having a mental disability and
•not be subject to revocation of citizenship proceedings.

I can’t think of a bigger threat to Canada’s security than a “President Cruz.” As to being part of criminal activity, Cruz is a Republican.

Also, if Justin Trudeau wanted to have some fun, he could make sure that Alberta Rafael’s application is marked “not approved.”

Doesn’t this all beg the question of why Obama’s birtherism and birth certificate was ever an issue? During that whole s&@tstorm, I don’t recall anyone making the point that it wouldn’t have mattered even if he HAD been born in Kenya, seeing as how his mom was an American citizen. I just find it bizarre that this virtually didn’t come up at all for Obama and yet it’s the crux of Ted’s citizenship claim.

Either way, I think this whole thing is just a sham to make it look like Obama’s birtherism wasn’t rooted in racism.

I’m sure he would be happy in some unincorporated island territory. Ideally a very small island.

Even if Cruz’s mother voted, she might still retain her US citizenship. I am not an expert on the law of citizenship, but one of my oldest friends moved to Europe 40 years ago, and became a citizen of the country in which he lives. As far as I know, he votes there, and I believe he retains a US passport. He and I discussed it once, and he said that the State Department had advised him not to try to vote in the US (he doesn’t have a domicile here, anyway), but I didn’t get the feeling that his US citizenship was questioned.

Meh. Sucks to get scooped by Breitbart, but it’s not much of a story.* As the story notes, the document doesn’t mean she actually became a Canadian citizen, and even if she did, it wouldn’t be an issue for Cruz’s eligibility unless she’d also renounced her U.S. citizenship, which there is no evidence she did. So, it’s a little comet of meaningless bullcrap whose path has been warped by Trump’s gravitational field and set on a collision course with the media. In other words, excellent click-bait for Breitbart and TPM alike.

[*Edit: To be clear, I’m not saying it was poorly reported or poorly written. Not at all. But, IMHO, there’s just “not much there, there.”]

I’m thinking the Cruz Campaign planted the leak to Breitbart. They knew TPM had it.

I had to laugh when the article said they decided to run the article since Breitbart ran it…

There is nothing here. It said it was an old list that needed correction, plus even if she was a citizen, the article also notes that she easily could have been a dual citizen, the likely scenario.

Yawn time.

I thought the only way Deadbart could be “scooped” was with a backhoe and a map of Forest Lawn.

This is exactly how I feel (and probably many others here at TPM) - but you said it better than I could.
