I’m clean out of thoughts and prayers. All I have is Molly Ivins’ old observation that if someone bent on murder has only a knife, nobody gets killed–at least not without a good footrace first. We know full well there won’t be any action on restricting access to heavy weaponry…
I can’t imagine in America, where law enforcement and EMT’s who may be emotionally able to walk into a crime scene where there may be a body or two, these people walking into a situation after the fact and seeing what essentially is a war zone with bodies everywhere.
To say nothing of those who have experienced it.
This is America.
None of them is a fetus.
And yet guns are not restricted items.
RWNJ’s are selectively “pro-life” which is to say not pro-life at all.
These atrocities are directly connected to the unholy alliance between the NRA and the Republican Party. Their politicians, backers, and judges. The NRA is a sinking ship now, and we need to finish the job by bringing the Republican Party to justice -at the ballot box and in the courts.
The answer of course is more guns…
[Usually I would not be flippant about this but I am fresh out of thoughts and prayers]
I don’t know how large VA Beach is but I can’t imagine it’s bigger than the community where I work. What this probably means is not only did the first responders have a horror show to deal with, they probably knew at least some of these victims fairly well. I just can’t imagine.
It is the biggest city in Virginia.
Zygotes in Alabama have more Rights than fully-grown human beings in Virginia.
The lack of humanity amongst the Right is simply appalling.
Every one of them would have either quietly stood by or actively helped Hitler do his worst.
And people dying for this particular marketing campaign is a feature for the marketing people, not a bug. Every time a mass shooting is publicized, they get more sales.
That old see something say something really didn’t apply in this case:
DeWayne Craddock
Weird that all those good guys with guns didn’t make this end well.
I’m on the other side of the Chesapeake but not that far from Va. Beach which is a good sized city. Knew nothing of this till this a.m. since I don’t do tv. It is really difficult to think of anything to say, it’s just atrocious and treated as a common place event.
One of the articles said it was the biggest mass shooting since Nov. OMG, only Nov., not 3 or 5 years ago. I’ve given up that this is ever going to change. I hate guns!
I’ll never be out of thoughts or even little prayers for the innocent victims and their grieving families of this senseless and horrendous violence. It doesn’t take much time or effort to at least do that, I’d feel inhuman if I didn’t.
Best we can do is to continue to be active on gun laws and vote for sensible representation and whatever else helps address this deadly issue.
One thing different with this event is the NRA being so busy circle jerking and pouring money into their own self destruction they are pretty much on the sidelines this time and not so able to shamelessly whip up gun victimhood propaganda all over the place.
We do not have to live like this. I want solutions. We need leaders who are willing to step up and name the problems and craft strategies.
So half a day passed and still no report on whether he got the gun legally?
Well, heck, if we drowned all government in a bathtub (or whatever that idiot Grover Norquist said), then obviously we wouldn’t have these shootings! (As opposed to those at schools, theaters, etc.)
