DHS IG Refused To Probe Agency’s Actions During Now-Infamous Trump Photo-Op | Talking Points Memo

Curious, when did “prolly” replace “probably”? I seen this usage a few times now. Where does it come from? Genuinely curious.

Not sure an outside body IG would help. In this case we had the DHS IG trying to oversee the SS. Seems that should have worked, but the problem appears to be the 2A-loving, confederate seditionists, Trump-humping traitors, right wing rednecks, whatever you want to call them, have broadly infiltrated every level of law enforcement in this country. Same issue appeared when the CPD stood down on Jan 6.

I recall a classmate from Southern Illinois in college pronouncing the word this way. Don’t know where he got it. Back in the early 60’s.

Biden can dismiss him today, if he just would step up.

Obama had his share of embarrassment with an IG too:

Charles K. Edwards

Charles K. Edwards, who served as acting DHS inspector general, during the years of Barack Obama’s presidency, from 2011 through 2013, resigned in December 2013 following allegations of abuse of power, withholding documents, misspending of funds, nepotism, and making his staff do his homework for his Ph.D. It was also alleged that he routinely shared drinks and dinner with department leaders and gave them inside information about the timing and findings of investigations, according to the report from an oversight panel of the Homeland Security and Government Operations Committee.

On March 6, 2020 Charles K. Edwards was indicted by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). A federal grand jury returned a 16-count indictment against Edwards. Which states that he allegedly stole both proprietary software and confidential databases from the United States government. Which was part of a scheme to defraud the government.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson put his agency’s former internal watchdog on leave within hours of the publication of a Senate report that concluded the employee was too cozy with senior agency officials and delayed or classified some critical reports to accommodate President Barack Obama’s political appointees.

Charles K. Edwards had been allowed to quietly resign as acting inspector general and transfer to another post within the Homeland Security Department in December, just before Johnson took office. But after Johnson reviewed the 27-page report from a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs oversight subcommittee Thursday he put Edwards on leave.

Kimmel has been doing some very funny stuff about Lindell’s weird new venture…so much so that Kimmel became a big focus of the “Frank” telethon.

His monologue from last night shows the Who? fake call-in:

I’ll have to say that Putin sure had a long reach within our bureaucracy by placing his Russian operatives inside the White House. It’s a shame that he hired the Keystone Kops.

No matter how the MAGA tries to spin it, Person of Interest #1 still doesn’t come across like Moses carrying the Ten Commandments in that infamous pr stunt.

Hasn’t replaced it. Has existed alongside it for more than a hundred years – but really took off in the early ’90s.

Where did it come from, you ask? Well, we can say it came from colloquial “mispronunciation.”

Now that’s funny.

I don’t doubt that the insurrection’s ‘success’ was the result of a perversion of leadership in the federal government, rationalized by any of a number of reasons that I’ve read, including the readily disproven, ‘No one coulda seen it coming.’
Hardly surprising in that, as you point out, it was public knowledge.

With the latest stuff about the “QRF” waiting with toys across the river, I really am adjusting my thinking to that the deliberate stand down on the National Guard and that the cops were mostly unarmed at the front lines was due to intelligence that there was exactly something like that in the works, and the folks in the know wanted to avoid a shootout on the Capitol steps that would have been much worse than what did go down.

Interesting!! A new coworker who lives in Chicago uses that spelling and pronunciation. Perhaps a colloquialism.

Perhaps someone can answer just what investigations the IG’s office performed with its 400 investigators that were so much higher priority. Or start the 30-day clock ticking for dismissal.

I’m curious as to whether or not DHS IG targetted publicly vocal political opponents of the President within the Civil Service, thus abusing the Bill of Rights to suck up to Twitler.
