Despite Repeated Vows Not To, House GOPers Are Again Proposing Social Security And Medicare Cuts

Over the past couple of months, Republicans claimed — over and over again — that they will not propose cuts to Social Security and Medicare. But despite the promises, a new budget proposal, released last week by the Republican Study Committee, details the changes and cuts they would make to the entitlement programs some of the nation’s most vulnerable depend on.

Leopards don’t change their spots. They will eat your face. Not sure why people are so surprised when that happens.

But, but, but… the Republicans got all mad at President Biden when he said that a portion of the GOP were looking to cut Social Security and Medicare.

It’s almost like they were full of shit with their performative outburst(s) at the State of the Union.

The only surprise in all of this is why anyone considers this news. They’ve been trying to do this since the 60s. They might actually succeed this time.

TBF: Donald Trump said: “If you vote for Democrats they’re gonna take away your Social Security!”

And, now, apparently, since I voted for Democrats, the Republicans are going to take away Social Security, just as Donald said they would.

See? No lying.

I think Emine Yücel was trying to indicate the Republican Study Committee was made up mostly of House members as opposed to Senate members, but yeah, kinda awkward way to phrase it.

I’m not averse to their constituents voluntarily foregoing the benefits they’ve paid for in support of whatever greater good their leadership alleges they’re pursuing.
I’m sure they’re far from a majority and, so, I’ll happily continue to line up with those who’ll tell them to get stuffed.
Hell, I’d continue to do it even if they succeeded in a hoodwinking a majority.

That’s the message for Democrats. Hammer it into the brain of every suburban indie out there. Republicans want to take the Social Security you paid for and give it to their rich friends.

And, it has the advantage of being true.

But, props to Biden for baiting the GOP during the SOTU into firmly stating their unanimous opposition to what they are now attempting to do.

The GOP bandits now want to steal money from old folks to continue their tax cuts for the rich.

Rethugs continue to propose changes to Social Security, such as increasing the age eligibility, that will have greater effect on their blue collar voters than shlubs like me who mostly sat on our asses for our careers.
And they continue to get their votes because racism and own the libs.
