This fascist POS can’t fall into an alligator pit fast enough.

Also don’t some federal standards require commitments to DEI?

I’m not counting Il Duce DeSadist Out. If the Pulpit Pimps line up behind him he will get the nomination.

I’m counting on DeSantis going all in, and then being egged on to turn it up to 12.
From following what he is doing in FL he seems to have ideas, but putting those ideas into practice is where he and his team fall to pieces.
Like the piece said:

While it is clear that DeSantis’ war on “woke” education is rooted in a broader political calculus, the chill from his initiatives can be felt on a granular level. Earlier this month, for example, Manatee County teachers received directives from their school district instructing them to “remove or cover all classroom libraries” until they can be reviewed to make sure they adhere to the state’s standards.

So from what I read is the directives went out, but the hiring and training of the folks who will have read all these books to determine if they’re not “woke” didn’t happen until this month. Which means that the teachers that have libraries in their classroom or the school libraries had to remove, or cover books up, until such time as a trained media specialist reviewed them.
I can’t imagine how this will go down in school districts that have higher A/A or Hispanic enrollment.

And when discussing Western Civilization is DeSantis going allow the philosophies and science from the Muslim part of Europe?

Republicans have one agenda: hurt Democrats, hurt people who support Democrats, and hurt the things that Democrats care about.

Replace Democrats with your pick of Blacks, Hispanics, Immigrants, Queer and Trans folk, Californians, New Yorkers, etc. and it is still true.

It’s all hate, all the time.

He’s short, he has a whiny voice, and he has negative charisma. He has figured out how to get elected in Florida with a regular infusion of conservative Midwestern retirees for their Golden Years, but this act isn’t going to play well in the general election.

He now has a history of these policies and actions. That’s what Trump didn’t have when he came on the scene in 2016, so the voters could overlay their expectations on the candidate. DeSantis won’t be able to do that. He’s building a record that can’t win in a general election for President in 2024. I hope, and I admit that’s a hope.

…that he plans to defund diversity, equity and inclusion programs in every public university in the state.

I’m looking forward to this. I mean, the chance to see soooooo many brows furrowed in a vain attempt to understand why this is happening when it’s what you voted for is just too irresistible for me.

Of course, the whole point is to run all legit professors out of town and then rebuild the schools from the ground up as conservative indoctrination centers to help them fight the demographic shifts that have already cost them majority status and lost them the culture war. The whole plan is essentially an admission to those two facts and to the fact that if they ever want to fix it, they needed to go fascist yesterday and start indoctrinating at a pace to beat population growth and continuing demographic shifts.

EVERY GQP KKKULT ACCUSATION IS A CONFESSION.

Really, it’s not all that different than their plan for the federal gov’t…turning it into a toxic camp of Deep State Republican KKKult operatives while running everyone else out of town.

How to get kids to read: prohibit them from touching a book.

Exactly. The adults supporting this don’t know what kids know about the Internet? And from a very early age? Might as well slap a label on banned books saying “Read this now!”
