This is going to bear watching over the next few months: you can tell the strain is on the ‘United’ part of USA when ‘foreigners’ stops meaning non-American and starts meaning ‘out-of-staters’. The states start to act like individual countries again.

DeSantis went on to tout how the state has made efforts to clear hospital space, saying that almost 33% of hospital beds are available in Florida right now and that field hospitals have been set up in south Florida in case of a surge.
Hospital beds aren’t the problem, it’s availability of ICU hospital beds, of which it’s projected FL will need over 2500 and currently only has 1700. (select FL in the green bar to see bed availability).

Sheriff paid them a visit and explained the new Tampa rules put in place on Friday night. Church was claiming they had “rights” to gather and mingle according to the constitution. Hillsborough AG is talking to their attorneys, something, something about manslaughter charges. I’ll guess it will be video from now on.

And frankly this is just so reactionary of DeSantis. All he has to do is quarantine the ship. It’s not like cruising is on anyone’s to do list right now. Keep 'em quarantined, keep them monitored, keep them supplied, and then wait and see what happens.
I mean it’s not like whatever countries some of these passengers are from really want them to come back to their home countries right now.

Hey, Ron: We’ve got roughly 5500 cases of COVID in FL right now, with 63 deaths, many around Broward County (home of Ft. Lauderdale) and Miami/Dade. How many of those do you think were caused by horny, drunken spring breakers packed into Florida a couple of weeks ago?

It’s not that simple–being forced to stay on board will result in many more covid-19 infections and deaths, so a quarantine would have to take place on land, as was done with the Grand Princess in California.
