House Democrats demanded in a letter this week that the Defense Department inspector general probe retaliation against a key witness in the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
I also recall that Adam Schiff explicitly told each person that retribution was not allowed for their testimony. It seems that nothing has any teeth against someone who simply doesn’t care (and has a corrupt AG and the entire GOP Congress on his side).
This is good…and, it should lead to legislation that keeps the president and political appointees from interfering with the careers of military personnel. There is just too much possibility to allow politicians to impact the system negatively, and there really should not be that kind of political interference in the lower level interactions with the military. Just imagine a system where the president gets to pick and choose his soldiers in the military and removes “troublemakers” like Vindman…a military of Trump supporters really could lead to a dictatorship enforced by military command.
A nitpick about the headline. It’s not House democrats. It’s the chairs of the relevant oversight committees, who are democrats because that’s the party in the majority. But those chairs have actual authority as delegated from an ostensibly co-equal branch of government.
But can they pass anything without Mitch’s help and Trump’s signature? Nope.
Until we have all three branches under our control with most Democrats sticking together. their words are just words.
After thinking things over, I’m not so sure Trump ever wanted to get the virus under control because:
“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. It provides the opportunity to do things that were not possible to do before.” -Rahm Emanuel.
The Lincoln project also has a new ad out regarding Trump’s I wish her well statement.
Google YouTube, Lincoln Project and Maxwell and you’ll find it.
I think Dems are not only doing the right thing here - after all, if anyone deserves our unyielding support, it’s Vindman -they’re laying down markers for legislation and the rehabilitation of good people under a Biden Administration.
Bill Barr, and I though John Mitchell was the worst Attorney General in my lifetime. It’s scary to think that it can only get worse, there is no bottom.
Buttery males and Benghazi pulled more effort from the national press than the dotards obvious corruption and incompetence. Scandal mongering and Jim Comey riding in in the closing moments of the campaign season to put the final emphasis on the investigation into the Clintons while never mentioning the ongoing investigation into the dotard’s campaign connection to the Russkies. And Americans inexplicable susceptibility to shit they read on Facebook? All of the above. All of them Katie.
Cook Political Report this morning moved the Dems chances of taking control of the Senate to likely. We’re on a roll at this point now let’s keep focusing on getting out the vote.
