His lawyer already responded that Bolton won’t appear voluntarily, but stands ready to accept service of a subpoena. Which in lawyer-speak means he’s going to testify, he just need a friendly subpoena to give him cover. Most of the other witnesses have done the same thing.

Bolton started this by leaking to the whistleblower, so it is only fair that he testify. Many of these folks know the whistleblower, but as long as there is no official word they can still deny that – after all there is a .01% chance it was someone else.
I still think it is hilarious that Bolton is ending up being a hero in this drama. Everyone knows he should be the hero’s comic sidekick, like a more clueless Walter Brennan.

As I noted elsewhere, I would expect Bolton to testify, but after he received a subpoena for legal cover. He may hold back on some discussions he had directly with Trump due to worries over executive privilege, but since he was left out of this scheme that probably doesn’t affect his testimony much. And, despite his bad policy leanings, Bolton is a patriot, and he wouldn’t go along with something like this…I will not be surprised if he testifies that he was fired because he confronted Trump once he understood the full scheme.
His testimony will be huge, and he’s the kind of person that will be truthful in his testimony, so I suspect we’ll see a huge amount of noise before he testifies, and maybe another invasion of the SCIF or something else to try to block his testimony.

If you ask me (and no one is) John Bolton is a bit of a crapshoot. There’s a 50/50 chance he’ll do something more self-serving in his testimony than honestly aimed at protecting the country from that egomaniacal dumbshit in the White House. I don’t trust the creep. Many in the press have built him up these last several days like he’s some kind of adult in the room. I call it self-preservation if anything. He’s not stupid, just somewhat crazy like the rest of them. You’d have to be to join Team tRump in the first place ffs.
Bolton is still a fucking chicken-hawk and war-mongering freak that has always hated the international order, which made this country what it used to be before his kind got into power, and tried to tear it all apart with specious accusations. Bolton’s not dumb, just dangerous.

If Trump and his cronies had treated the notoriously prideful Bolton with respect, or even fired him in a respectful manner, they might have a better chance of Bolton covering for Trump, or at least do-not-recall’ing. But they didn’t. Oops.

I think that Bolton was in the Grover Norquist mode of thinking that they didn’t need a “smart” president to get their aims for government achieved, they just needed one who could hold a pen and sign his name. So they bought in to Trump, hoping they could direct/mold him how they wanted. They didn’t anticipate that the NPD and whatever the hell the thing is with Putin would be so dominating/derailing.

If Bolton wants to keep his dream alive of pulverizing Iran then he will jump on the band wagon and join the glee club, but not until the last minute so that the right people know that the song he wants to sing is not for the gleeful ones but for any possible survivors of the dark decades of destined glee dampening the desperate desires of the dour.
If anyone asks for my opinion, that is.

Which is a shame, because it’s not a mustache, but rather the remnants of @squirreltown, whom he hit while in Italy on a moped.
