Dem Sens Call On GOPers To Go On Record About Support For Right To Contraception

Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Ed Markey (D-MA) on Tuesday demanded that their Republican colleagues go on record about whether they support the right to contraception, a day before Democrats are set to push the Right to Contraception Act through the upper chamber.

“I am firmly adamant that I hold a strongly felt opinion about this important issue and will always do so”.

Nope. Not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent.

How I feel about this issue is none of your business. I maintain my right to keep silent. Not gonna tell ya. Nope.

And as always, I take no one’s statement on a vote-able issue until they cast their ballot. The rest, before that, is theater.

Justice Thomas wants all of our rights “revisited”, not just contraception.

To use reason is anti-GOP to the core.
It would be against anyone’s direct self interest to vote for trump if he runs yet tens of millions are ready to toss their lives on the bonfire.

Senator Collins hopes and somehow this does not give me much confidence. This is for marriage equality.

Des want Republicans on record about contraceptives? They’re going to do what they’ve done on so many issues- punt and run. They’ll claim it is a issue for states to decide, knowing how Republicans in their states feel. Would they feel differently if Dems suddenly started arguing that states can decide whether Insurance Companies have to cover Viagra and other ED Meds.

Self-interest is why people vote for Trump! People who are anti-abortion, anti-tax, anti-regulation, anti-immigration, and pro guns will vote for him again if he’s the candidate because a Democrat would be worse for their self-interests as they perceive them (not as you and I do).

At least in 2020 there were enough people setting aside their self-interests, or at least a few of them, to know how much of a disaster another Trump term could be for the country and they helped Dems kick him out of office. Let’s hope they show up again next time.

Except for miscegenation.

People do vote against their own self interest - I pay more taxes under Dem admin, but, you know, I view a functioning society as a trade-off against $2k extra tax a month.

Miscegenation is his right, and thus sacrosanct.

The likelihood of most of the same people who showed up to vote for him in 2016 showing up if, big, big if, he’s nominated in 2024 is low and gets lower every day. Thanks Liz.

Glad to see the Dems pushing this. Make the Rs show their callowness to the world. I understand many suburbanites feel pretty strongly about their right to contraception
