New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo got blunt on Tuesday morning when asked about President Donald Trump’s claim that he has the “total authority” to force states to end their stay at home orders and allow businesses to reopen even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Forcing states to do something is only the outer layer of this idiocy. Trump thinks he can force PEOPLE to work. American citizens are considered serfs, according to Trump’s ‘theory’, which isn’t a theory at all, of course, just a noxious belch of panic.
Andrew Cuomo is a terrible person. Nobody likes him. Everyone agrees. He’s been ripping off the people of New York for many years. We’re going to move very strongly on him.
Cuomo: [" “If he thinks he’s going to force this state, or any state for that matter, to do something that is reckless or irresponsible, that could endanger human life, literally…" "]
It might also help for someone to explain to Trump that there are three co-equal branches of government. Civics and such. But that should become apparent when the House conducts hearings on what went wrong so we can learn how to do this better the next time.
Better, a president in these circumstances should be using his actual authority to call in all the experts, manufacturing executives, and others as necessary and get going on a Manhattan Project equivalent for getting widespread, accurate testing for the virus done. Along with as many facemasks as everyone needs, nationwide and world-wide.
“Why do reputable news organizations carry these daily Trump press conferences live? They are filled with misinformation and propaganda. From the president himself, no less. The country would be far better served and informed if they used highlights later. Enough is enough.”
Just wait till you see what he does to them for disobeying. This year is shaping up to be far FAR worse than I ever expected in terms of GOP and Trump malfeasance and they aren’t even close to done yet, what with Barr’s political enemies prosecutions and further accusations about Bide-Ukraine just around the corner…what’s a little martial law and attempt to use the military in violation of the posse commitatus act? Buckle up, folks, we’re still on the slow incline part of the ride…click, clack, click, clack…
It’s not a theory, it’s reality. Trump announces mitigation efforts are being lifted. Maybe a state’s Governor issues an order in agreement with him, maybe not. Regardless, private companies tell their employees to report back to work, the President has spoken. They fear infection, knowing the “all clear” is utter bullshit. They insist on following a very cautious approach to returning. Their employer fires them.
Has Trump forced them back to work? Effectively yes, if the alternative is the loss of their job. A job their employer was previously holding for them, maybe even letting them perform from home.
