House Oversight Committee chair Elijah Cummings (D-MD) tore into acting secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan on Thursday for the Trump administration’s failure to properly care for the migrant children coming from the southern border.

Love this guy. As they say, “He does not suffer fools gladly.”

Thank you, sir. This is a time for righteous indignation - not the self-righteous indignation the Republicans sell.

Congressman Cummings is a treasure. May he live to deliver Trump’s eulogy.

It’s a beautiful thing when someone cuts through the bullshit.

A eulogy is praise of the dead. Trump’s will be stone silence from Cummings.

I posted this on another thread. From an editorial in the St. Louis Dispatch:

Forgot to mention that this was aimed at republicans.

You can call yourself a Christian or you can support Donald Trump, but you can’t do both.

You can call yourself moral or decent or you can support Donald Trump, but you can’t do both.

You can call yourself an American or you can support Donald Trump, but you can’t do both.

It’s well past time for people to place their bets.

More please, Chairman Cummings. Thank you for standing up for these migrants and their children and, of course, all decent American citizens who despise how this administration is treating them.

And so eloquently and passionately.

Why would you want to inflict such an awful thing on Rep. Cummings?

I can’t take hearing about those migrants and especially their children. If you were found to be treating cats or dogs this way they’d lock you up.

It all comes down to Matthew 25:40…

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Jesus was always very clear about this. We are all brothers and sisters, including and especially the vulnerable, and if you want to follow him and claim him as your savior you accept that. At that point your duty to vehemently object to this torturous abuse is clear. Jesus cursed and condemned to hell the people who claimed to follow him but did not care for the suffering people they might have helped. There’s really no possibility of confusion there.

This… you nailed it.

Trump supporters need to be in a constant state of defense. They’ve worn the “deplorable” tag as a badge of honor. They need to be forced to defend, defend, defend. If your dear leader does things you wouldn’t let your 3 year old get away with, you need to defend yourself and why you’re happy to be complicit with that.

I wish he were Speaker.

And I pity him having to sit next to Rep. Gym Jordan at every committees meeting.

But everyone know you can’t take the words of Dirty Fucking Hippy Jesus literally. You have to get them interpreted by the church elders interpreting Roman Catholic church elders interpreting early church elders interpreting Peter and Paul. That’s the only acceptable way.

I can not listen to it either. As a teenager my mom sat me down and told me I was not cut out for social work (college planning). That I would end up giving away all my money and end up in psych ward from trying to right all the wrongs. I was briefly offended then had to admit she was correct. I toughened up some over the years but still can not hear child abuse stories or even read about them.
