Cruise Ship Passengers Finally Start Disembarking In Florida | Talking Points Memo

Hoping all of this will put an end to this ridiculous way of travel. Talk about a petri dish and overwhelming small communities when they get off ship.

It’s an interesting comment from out idiot Gov. Seems just being a human being didn’t mean shit to him. You had to be a qualified human being to get his sympathy.

What is the ‘connect scam’?
I know DeSantis is sleaze, but I’ve not heard of this yet…

Commercial flights are also petri dishes and carry far more people to more places than do cruise ships. I’m not sure we’re going to put an end to that way of travel, though.

Touch of Heinleinian surrealism there.

Sounds like it was put in place by skeletor. But I don’t mind DeSnivel taking the heat: https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2020/04/03/its-a-sh-sandwich-republicans-rage-as-florida-becomes-a-nightmare-for-trump-1271172

Florida Republicans are blaming each other for the fiasco.

Maybe—just maybe—it will begin to dawn on Florida voters that Republicans don’t know shit about governance and don’t give a shit about the average Floridian.

Nope. More important to make sure the wrong types don’t get any benefits.

Maybe I’ve got a reasonable idea.

ENFORCE A MORATORIUM ON CRUISES UNTIL THE PANDEMIC ENDS.

“I’m sorry, Sir, but the state of ______ will not allow you to board that ship.”

Because stupid people keep infecting other stupid people who now go on cruises.
Once they disembark, stupid people can be hard to avoid if they come into your space.

Connect is the Florida government’s “program” that administers unemployment benefits . It was constructed by the GOP House and Senate here and signed into law by Rick Scott. It was never tested until now and what a mess. Calling it Byzantine is being kind. But to make things worse now that it’s out in the open its clear it was constructed not to work, to make getting benefits near impossible and therefore keep unemployment numbers falsely low. Scott was doing the Trump thing. Only caring for himself.

The GOP as a lot of people say here “is very unpopular except at election time” and now folks are figuring things out. Should be no surprise they rigged Scott into the Senate and DeSantis into the Gov’s mansion given what what drown here in 2000. I doubt either were actually elected. But that gig is up. Even GOP’ers here, at least those with a rational sense of self preservation, are admitting Scot and the GOP scammed Florida good and left us with our asses out in the wind.
