Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) asked the FBI to get involved in Texas Republican officials’ efforts to arrest state Democrats who fled Texas to delay the Republican-controlled legislature’s scheme to redraw congressional maps to benefit Republicans. State House Speaker Dustin Burrows signed civil warrants for the Democrats arrest on Monday evening. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R)…

The first felon is too stupid to know that how many seats a state gets in Congress has nothing to do with how many votes were cast for the president. in other words, who cares?

But the GQP will continue to play along, because they are too scared to do anything else.

Texas Democratic voters had better find their balls and fast. The state Dems have shown that they have some fight in them, so I would suggest instead of diddling themselves Blue voters in Texas get off their fucking asses and surround the fucking statehouse in Austin, yesterday. Make it clear that they will not fucking stand for this. Or is it too hot today?

I want to talk about this: On Redistricting - TPM – Talking Points Memo
Does anyone think NY and CA are capable of this level of strategy? I want to believe they are. What do y’all think?

Ken Paxton is a bitch who has zero pathway to serving, much less having determined by the courts, dozens of separate lawsuits against these legislators. He could file them all tomorrow, and none of their answers would be due until September.

And while I am usually the first person to rain on the parade of illegalities, I am not at all sure the federal law enforcement won’t try to find and return the quorum-breakers. That’s just the raw exercise of power, which is something that is very much up in this administration’s wheelhouse.

He feels the red hot breath of his senate challenger Paxton on the back of his neck.

(And there’s no more pathetic sight than two Republicans trying to out-crazy each other.)

So Cornyn wants to weaponize the FBI to intervene in what is strictly a Tejas affair?

Getting more like Two Poops every day.

This is not dinging the democrats in my view. It feels desperate on the Republican’s part and the days of “hell yeah!” with the constituents may be waning.

As a former Austin resident I agree with txlawyer wholeheartedly. The legislators have broken no laws and can travel freely. But after watching tactics under the Orange Idiot I think there is a very good chance the FBI will end up putting some in “ protective custody “ and returning them to Austin. The total culmination of federal lawlessness

I’m thinking that maybe it’s time for them to relocate. Charter flights to Canada should do the trick, FBI would be totally out of jurisdiction and these lawmakers have broken no laws, they should be welcomed there

Isn’t the GOP against entitlement programs?

delaying a special session that Abbott called to shove through the new congressional maps that could give Republicans five seats currently held by Democrats in the U.S. House

Because Texans are just Republican tools?

There’s a nice, comfortable cave hidden on the family farm in northeast Ohio that could be as useful now as it was about 170 years ago. In fact, I’ve heard about of a string of similar “accommodations” between Texas and the Canadian border.

Just sayin’ …

It’s quite possible that Patel will try to sic the FBI on them, but I imagine the Democrats may have lined up some judges to temporary injunction that gross abuse of power, this is entirely a State matter, I also endorse besieging Austin, like the French truckers do periodically and frankly, I’ve had enough of this gang of fascist snakeoil salesmen and their corporate financiers.

I’d like to see a nationwide strike until Trump resigns along with vance and his entire bag of hammer er, rock i mean administration, and we have a Constitutional Convention of some sort and elect a new government, coz the current one sucks.

Just sayin.

Which one of these idiots will be the first to put out a “Wanted - Dead or Alive” proclamation?

In an ever-escalating battle for the Megalomaniac Championship Trophy - it will be inevitable that some moron will implode by over-reaching.

The whole exercise feels performative. Goings on in TX will be drawn out, but at some point the Dems will return and Abbott will continue to call sessions until the redistricting passes. It will be challenged. If the blue states pass ‘trigger laws’ (if TX redistricts, then the CA law goes into effect), those actions will be challenged too, but maybe any damage can be contained. But are CA, NY and MI capable of trying… sure. And action by the states is one of the few weapons the Democratic resistance has to work with.

I have to wonder what the internal polling says that has them in such a frenzy. Is it possible that it looks that bad? Who would have the courage to tell him?
