Newly published videos of the arrests from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) theatrical crackdown on voter fraud paint a picture of chaos and fear among Floridians who’ve found themselves in the crosshairs of DeSantis’ war on voting.
Republican utopia in action. I’d say we should start sawing at the ground on the Georgia and South Carolina borders, but then these folks would be stuck on DeSantis Island.
The Florida voters voted specifically to let these people who had served their time vote. Then the legislature overrode the vote of the people. Now they’re doing the old “gotcha” on people who had been specifically told voting was now okay … and believed it.
Democrats should have been harping on this betrayal for months, but particularly now. Something something about Republican lies. Republicans ignoring the will of the people. Penalizing good faith actions that had been okayed by either carelessness or outright lies. Maybe it could change a few votes, or at least make some R’s stay home.
Lets see if this gets through their thick skull, if they are black and democrat (that in itself a felony) they should not be voting, what is so hard to understand…
It seems to me that the it is up to the board of elections to determine if someone is eligible to vote. I’d to know, outside of FL, what other state arrests people who aren’t eligible to vote? How many voter applications are turned down? And by turned down I don’t mean felons, but don’t meet other eligibility requirements.
DeSantis is like a movie villain. He’s openly malevolent. And he’s not an idiot like Trump. I think he aims to usurp Trump as the face of American fascism, and I fear he will succeed.
The asylum flight showed some degree of careless self-sabotage, which is encouraging. But I don’t see him being his own worse enemy the way others are.
It speaks volumes that one party tries to expand voter enfranchisement, but the other tries dirty tricks to prevent the greater populace from expressing their will through voting,
