On Sunday morning, White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway struggled to respond to the shocking revelations of President Donald Trump’s Ukraine scheme that have emerged in the impeachment investigation.
“Dana, why are you questioning the president’s use of his money for his own needs? Everything belongs to him, and to question that is to question America. And to question America is to be a commie agent- uh, I mean crafty Chinese agent. Clearly you are a muslim-lover and need to back off of the president’s love of the Saudi Royal Family because his family also loves them. Therefore, you are anti-family values. Typical liberal.”
1 / When Willful Ignorance is the best defense, you and your team are losing.
2 / George Conway knows the answer. She should consult him, as he’s a real lawyer.
3 / When this administration blows up, I expect her to claim that she was part of The Resistance, just like every Frenchman claimed to be post-WW2.
Conway was in CYA mode. She does not know? POTUS said on the call that he needed a favor though. He expected Zelensky to deliver an investigation of the Bidens for the release of the aid. It is in the President’s own words. The only reason it was released was due to Republicans and Democrats inquiring about the withholding of the funds. Mitch McConnell was concerned.
Seriously CNN, how many times have you had KAC on since Trump made her part of his campaign?
All she does is spin and prevaricate.
Isn’t it about time to quit inviting her on air to spew her bullshit?
I’m disappointed in KellyAnne. She took over a month off, finally came on a network show, and this is the best she could do? Boy! When even alternative facts aren’t on your side…
This is about the only time I can recall where an interview with Kellyanne Conway was actually newsworthy.
She didn’t want to be contradicted or to lie. However, I note that saying ‘I don’t know’ to a question you know the answer to is technically a lie under the law. Her defense might be she doesn’t have first hand knowledge b/c she’s probably smart enough not to ask those questions, but she knows what she has heard and seen.
Maybe under different circumstance it is, but lying on air is perfectly OK. I think there was a court case with a Fox affiliate that determined lying on air is perfectly legal.
Here it is:
Fox lawyers, under pressure by the Monsanto Corporation (who produced RBGH), rewrote her report over 80 times to make it compatible with the company’s requests. She and her husband, journalist Steve Wilson, refused to air the edited segment.
In February 2003, Fox appealed the decision and an appellate court and had it overturned. Fox lawyers argued it was their first amendment right to report false information. In a six-page written decision, the Court of Appeals decided the FCC’s position against news distortion is only a “policy,” not a “law, rule, or regulation.”
So, Fox and the other gladiatorical cable news channels were given the okay to legally lie right around the time of the Iraq War’s birth – when media lies coincidentally hit a peak in both frequency and severity.
This is why I’m so thrilled the WH and the GOP don’t have a ‘war room’ to coordinate messaging and tactics.
You get squirming, bizarre statements about QPQ, really sad attempts at nonanswers to reporters’ questions, and wild rationale about the president’s actions not rising to the level of impeach-and-convict.
It has been a while since someone from the administration went on air to defend the president and the administration. It’s been a while since Kellyanne has been on. I guess it was her turn and she probably didn’t want to do it. But she went anyway, you got to give her credit for that.
But she failed and she probably knows she failed, Trump (aka The Audience of One) cannot be happy. What can she so? It was her job to defend the president. How can she do that when her job is to say “read the transcript” when doing so clearly implicates the president.
It’s like she is running into the end of a dead-end tunnel and the old tricks just aren’t working anymore.
