Here’s what I don’t understand: why not just lie? It’s not like she doesn’t lie to the faces of the press corps in every single interview, hell, practically every single sentence, sometimes clearly making it up on the fly, seemingly with total confidence. She’s not under oath or otherwise legally bound to the consequences of her words. Why pick this moment to prevaricate?

Exactly. As a nebulous “senior advisor” or whatever her title is, she’ll be able to deny any role in the worst of Trump’s doings -which is pretty much everything. As CoS, she’d be too visible, to responsible for the viciousness, incompetence, and treachery of this Administration. Wouldn’t leave room for a zombie-like return from the walking dead.

The WaPo had a good article yesterday about how the Senate republicans got together for a working lunch to test out a new argument-- that they admit that there was a quid pro quo, but shift the argument to that it wasn’t illegal.
It’s a shakey and bullshit argument, but since they haven’t picked which way to jump, she may be reluctant to say something now that may be OBE before tomorrow… The problems you have when the whole strategery is being directed by Trump and Jared, instead of professionals…
