Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) chided the White House for blocking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from releasing a guide on how to reopen state and local businesses.
The White House shelved the CDC’s 17-page guide last week and has refused to implement it, which provides detailed recommendations on reopening state economies and institutions, such as restaurants and schools.
A task force official told TPM in an emailed statement that the CDC’s “overly specific instructions” would be too “overly prescriptive and broad” to put in place given that not all states and regions of the country are evenly impacted by the pandemic.
No worries. “Trump alone can fix it,” or so he sez.

“Also important, CDC leadership did not clear this guidance,” the official added.
First things first: The fact that CDC leadership did not clear the guidance is a feature, not a problem.
Second things second: I note that the Task Force Official is a horse with no name. Nice to be proud of your work there, Task Force Official.
He (Lamont) is part of the northeastern coalition. He should just get the report on WAPO and start implementing it, along with the others in the coalition and the other two coalitions.
The report isn’t hidden - it’s in plain sight and should be taken seriously.
I’ve posted it on my social media and have a lot of friends and family in CT. Don’t let the shelving stop anyone from implementing the plan, even if the Feds won’t.
That really must be the end game – herd immunity, brought to you by morons. I just don’t get why they’re willing to risk so many of their own ignoramuses they need at the ballot box. Or maybe it’s a revealing that they plan to circumvent the ballot box and not need them all?
I think it has more to do with the age old conservative belief that workers are expendable “things” to be consumed and replaced at will. What we are seeing is what it might look like if we had a nationwide general strike. In that case, I have no doubt that a Republican president would call out the military to put it down and union leaders would be arrested. Since this “strike” is induced, not by union leaders, but by a “nonpolitical” virus, propaganda will have to do … for now.
