Congressional Watchdog Publishes Aptly Timed Reminder That WH Budget-Slashing Scheme is Illegal

A congressional watchdog agency, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), published a post Wednesday morning reaffirming that “pocket rescissions” — a supposed loophole in the budgeting process that the Trump White House thinks it can use to seize Congress’ power of the purse — are illegal. “A pocket rescission is illegal as we explained in our…

Trump believes nothing is illegal until it has been litigated, appealed, appealed again, and then maybe in a couple of years a judge makes a ruling that will be overturned by the Supreme Court.

”Vought and his allies believe they have found a loophole in the budgeting process that, they claim, allows them to declare congressionally approved funding rescinded”

”Normally, a formal rescissions request starts a 45-day clock”

This and the DOJ policy memos…

None of the shit is in the constitution. This is the loophole presidency rat-fvcking democracy. Watch our corrupt SCOTUS contort themselves to push America under the Drumpf bus.

Sorry to say this, but nothing is illegal for Trump unless Congress or a court stops him. Congress is not going to happen and the Supreme Court has effectively neutered the lower courts. Trump is king for now.

Nothing says illegal unless Trump is all in.

What I’d like to see rescinded is the $200 million for this regime’s Versailles-On-The-Potomac ballroom monstrosity. His designated liar spokesperson called him a man of the people. Nothing could be further from the truth.

What is a law anyway, really?

There is reporting that the orange Pedo preyed on a blonde 13-year-old child. Told her that she reminded him of his daughter. Gave her the impression that he was a greater catch as a creepy rapist and pedo than having sex with the average pimple-faced middle schooler her own age. That creepy pickup line about his daughter is the same one he used with Stormy.

Funny I just got back from my walk, and this money issue is what I mulling over in my brain. I was coming from the other end. Who is suggesting to DonOLD to build that or gilt those things. It’s a distraction technique to keep a child amused.
But that doesn’t mean we neglect following the money. And all of this is more nefarious because Vought w/ Project 2025 and Miller are the one pulling DonOLD’s strings.
How do we audit the WH and their spending? I mean Kash isn’t going to authorize his FBI agents to start digging around. Which non-governmental accounting agency can handle the job?
(can someone creative make me a Trump IOU cartoon, please and thank you)

Isn’t the WH part of the Presidental NP? Shouldn’t changes require an EIS?

I suspect the guilty parties could not possibly care less whether this is legal or not. Who’s going to stop them from doing the recissions? Congress? The Courts? Certainly not the voters, whose money the guilty parties are spending (or not spending).

They’ll continue to do this until someone gets the guts to say, ‘hold. enough’, I don’t expect to see that any time soon from anyone.

Sure. But we don’t go by the criminal’s read on the law. Even if the corrupt courts currently are going along with it. Their time will come.

He sez he’s “paying for it himself.” Using funds extorted from people and organizations that have decided not to be put on his “Enemies” list, I’m assuming.

Like other posters, I wonder if the legality of any act is of any possible concern to this criminal gang.

Irrelevant comment from an irrelevant department. Just how many checks has USAID sent out after the courts told TSF he couldn’t defund them?

The answer is 0, of course, he just ignored the courts.

Here’s a reminder that Russ Bought is wholly owned by Charles Koch through the Heritage foundation.

Here is Wikipedia’s map of the Koch network.

Charles’ father was a founding member of the John Birch Society, and has been described as a psychopath who did his best to convert Charles and David to sociopathy; an effort in which he reportedly largely succeeded.

This network needs to be publicly demonized as much as TMF did the immigrants, and similarly repressive actions should be taken against the entire network, including hangers-on.
