Collins ‘Open To Witnesses’ In Impeachment, Says McConnell And Warren Not Being ‘Impartial’ | Talking Points Memo

Sure, she’s a coal-mine canary. But her faintly chirped opposition soon collapses like a compromised mine shaft. Or an overworked metaphor.

Collins pines for the days when a politician could simply lie about their intentions and please the majority of their constituents. Things were so much more civil then!

Maine independent voters polled in Oct went pro impeachment 45% to 32%.
No profile in courage but she does need the independent vote.

Here’s the Warren quote from the linked article:

FOX 11 News anchor & political reporter Elex Michaelson asked her" “have you seen enough evidence to convict Donald Trump and remove him from office?”

Warren replied simply, “yes!”

And here’s the McConnell one:

[McConnell] told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday that Senate Republicans will be working in “total coordination with the White House counsel.”

Warren answered a specific question about evidence already presented in the House, and her interpretation of it, while McConnell is talking about how to rig the process. Hmmm, I wonder which of these is more troubling for the purposes of impartial adjudication?

Oh how cute. Collins is pretending to be a centrist again. I am sure once she gets a “promise” from McConnell that the process will be fair she will be relieved from her current faux anxiety about the situation.

“both sides of the aisle”…that’s the best the State of Maine can contribute to the leadership of this country? And she’s misquoting to the point of fabrication. Warren said the evidence is overwhelming ( it is ) and that Trump should removed because of that. McConnell said he doesn’t give a shit about the evidence or process and Trump should walk and will if he can make it happen. Nothing like Sen. Collins’s bullshit both sides.

I know it’s hopelessly naive to say this, but wouldn’t it be nice if one of these so-called “leaders”, who are constantly bleating about “leadership” would actually make a statement about the importance of seeking the truth, instead of constantly using weasel words to avoid saying anything definitive?

If they can’t get re-elected by speaking to, and seeking, the truth, what is the point of running for the office in the first place. Avoidance is not a leadership strategy. And it should not be rewarded by voters.

I’ll step away and take my free unicorn now, please!

Collins, Murkowski, et al are hopelessly owned by Bitch McConnell and the GOP. These spineless women voted to confirm Kavanaugh. Now they’ll pretend they’re upset about the brazenly unethical actions by Bitch, yet they’ll vote to acquit Drumpf no matter how many witnesses testify or how much evidence is presented that proves Drumpf’s crimes. Both women are doing this purely to be able to say they “stood up” to Bitch, when their real motive is to give the GOP cover.

Remind me again Suzie, how did you vote on Kavanaugh?

That’s right. And when MM says, “no witnesses,” they can say they’d wanted them, but McConnell … . Fortunately, it won’t work this time.

I would have to go find Warren’s quotes to accurately parse Collins mushmouthing. I don’t know if Warren said this particularly about the Impeachment Hearings, Senate Trial, or said it generally or even long before the hearings.

Either way, the mountains of evidence of years of crimes from Chump can excuse anything she said, notwithstanding the fairly limited and comparatively thin Impeachment Articles. Chump has gone on TV and Twitter and committed mountains of crimes from pardon dangling, to witness intimidation, to electoral illegalities, and having a good chunk of his people taking pleas on felony counts where Chump is directly implicated.

McConnell, Graham, and Collins - on the other hand - stand on a squishy, slippery grease-spot of mere assertions of innocence from Chump and an absolute blackout of evidence…none of it exculpatory. Her comparison of McConnell and Warren is pure bullshit and anyone questioning her should make her pay for such a transgression, not allow her to get away with it.

“Aye” or “Nay” doesn’t truly convey her soul-searching or the anguish the entire process cost her.

Collins says a lot of things but always votes the way McConnell tells her to. Let’s hope that pattern gets her out of the Senate in 2020.
