Collins And Manchin See Light At End Infrastructure Bill Tunnel This Week | Talking Points Memo

Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), both of whom are part of the bipartisan group of senators who have worked throughout the weekend to finalize the text of the infrastructure bill, on Sunday expressed confidence that the deal is on its way towards passage by the end of the week.

Get stuff done!!!

Joe needs to do some Executive Orders that help people or create jobs, 2 jobs or more, and then the Congressional Democrats need to talk about the good thing that was done and how many people it will help and how it cuts across party lines, and saves money etc. Oh, and that creep at the post office needs to be fired.

Do they realize itā€™s a reconciliation train?

It took Joe only six months. Just six months. And because of the 60 vote threshold, a hostile Senate. This clearly shows the difference between having a competent, thoughtful government comprised of experienced people who know how to work together to get things done versus a bunch of incompetents committed to the grift and disallowing any bill to pass from which they canā€™t hoover up their 20%.

The article doesnā€™t get into funding mechanisms for this bill. What are they? There was talk before about using tolls, etc., but I believe the Dems were against that. The idea of getting money from better IRS enforcement isnā€™t going to happen, it seems. Tax increases??

O/T FYI
Trump tries to defend ā€˜just say the election was corruptā€™ demand | Donald Trump | The Guardian
onald Trump insisted on Saturday that when he told senior justice department officials to ā€œJust say that the election was corrupt [and] leave the rest to meā€, he was not attempting to subvert US democracy, but to ā€œuphold the integrity and honesty of elections and the sanctity of our voteā€.

ā€œIn a pigā€™s eye,ā€ as the saying goes. Trump was trying anything and everything.

The big question I have (for Fox, Lindell, etc.) is: why havenā€™t they been able to bring forward a single person with actual first-hand knowledge of voting fraud? Not one. Lindell and Sidney Powell, etc. talk about proof, but where is a single person with first hand knowledge of fraud? If there were any fraud, wouldnā€™t there be at least one patriot who saw it to call it out? All we see are election heads who say there was no fraud of any consequence. And they didnā€™t use voting machines; they only used counting machines. Big difference. It reminds me of the 911 conspiracy theorists: they never could come up with a single person to say that the US government was involved in any way.

It would really be nice if most news orgs would just not print anything else he has to say until his trials. I know some are going to try to get him to speak, like Fox, OAN, etcā€¦but it would seem like every other news org knows he has lied 87000 times and would finally just say enough. He isnā€™t president anymore, so they donā€™t have that excuse either.

Why does Manchin want to partner with this lying Maine witch?

Notice heā€™s not denying the statement though.

Trump is 1000% Blusterā€¦if heā€™s ā€œtrying to defendā€, he is losing the narrative like a motherfucker.

Well, they both use the same techniques to slow-roll or quash bills that help the common man. They both express their undying concern for minor violations of norms, precedent and tradition while voting the party line even if it hurts their constituents. Twins separated at birth.

Once you get used to thinking of yourself as the critical person on which everything in Congress depends, itā€™s hard to break that habit.

The Senate, given its druthers, will do the easy thing. Given the unprecedented uncertainty about the economy over the next few years, this puts a solid stimulus in place for the rest of the decade.

On the Brian Williams Show (I believeā€¦I just caught a 2 minute glance), Bill Krystol was opining on the S1 Bill in the Senate. I did not catch all of it, but it looked like there were compromises mentioned. Before I, personally, would support that, I would have to have more (much more) info.

Yeah, thatā€™s interesting because claiming itā€™s fake news is his usual response. There is only one personā€™s notes for verification and he could claim it was made up. The smart thing would be to say nothing and just see if it goes anywhere serious like a conspiracy charge, but of course he canā€™t shut up about anything where his name is mentioned.

Yup. And when I tried to rob that bank, I was merely testing its polices and procedures and the mettle of its employees. The million dollars in unmarked bills I ran off with after firing several warning shots in the air are highly irrelevant to my true intentions.

It took him two days and a ā€œcabinet meetingā€ to come up with that nonsense?
