Their are ton of little to medium sized funding mechanisms. Their is repurposing already appropriated covid funds which isn’t going to be spent as is. 28 billion from taxing crypto currencies the same as stocks and bonds. A delay on a Medicare Part D rebate rule…I have no idea what this is.
So I guess I don’t really know…good question, but I can’t find a good source.
The Senate is so full of shit. These two miscreants act like their “bipartisanship” is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I don’t believe this will become law without the reconciliation bill, both of which also require the House to vote. If I could have one wish it would be to dissolve the Senate and uncap the House.
This is the part of the musical where the two least authentic or trustworthy people in the cast realize how much they have in common and sing a duet, each with a separate spotlight, then approach each other and end, embracing, in a single spotlight of mutual understanding.
It’s only been a few days since the Select Committee had their first open meeting, but already we’re seeing sheer panic in the air.
From Jordan babbling incoherent, trying to get in front of news about his phone call(s) with Trump on Insurrection Day to Trump holding, what seems to me, a quickly held meeting with his insiders at Bedminster, but still unable to find a reasonable explanation for his statements and actions, and McCarthy out-McCarthying himself, now with calls for violence.
Expect more of this from Republicans as the Committee has barely even begun. It’s just that bad.
Those reallocated Covid funds are coming out of the red states primarily - unemployment funds they cut off early, Medicaid funding they don’t want “those people” to have access to, vaccines they refuse to use, etc. Stupid is as stupid does.
He knows he’s going to tank voting rights. He also knows he’s going to use his unjustified veto power to savage the reconciliation bill that all of America has been throwing it’s GOP-denied hopes into. Manchin knows he is going to deliver a one-two punch that will demoralize not just America but the whole world, because it will strangle us economically and politically until McConnell can drag the victim into Grover Norquist’s bathtub.
So this is possibly Manchin’s last chance to bask in the sun. A treacherous turncoat savoring the last days of an era that he will shortly terminate.
What am I missing? It’s good to see that Sen Collins is apparently no longer “concerned” but what about the other human infrastructure reconciliation bill? Pelosi’s red line is that both infrastructure bills have to first pass the Senate before she’ll allow the House to vote on them (or some variation of that).
This article is only half of the story - and important b/c Lucy still holds the football.
