That’s part of it, of course. But, the core of being a gop farmer is being cruel to immigrants and others who didn’t inherit 600 acres of bean fields. This is obvious because the Democrats also sign onto farm subsidies.
I can understand farm subsidies to a certain extent. Bit not because the Trump administration is effing around with tariffs (to do what exactly?), and then paying off farmers (or more likely, Big Ag) who are being hurt.
Well, farm subsidies are a form of socialism, aren’t they?
Exactly. Those are bribes for votes.
Thank you for the specifics. So many people don’t know this. It would put SS in a serious bind. If the gov’t really won’t to end unauthorized immigration, they would go after the employers of said immigrants. Wonder why they don’t? Oh right…the employers are probably Republicans.
Yup, the small time family farms are nearly all gone now.
Did you mean Konstitutional Konservative Khristians?
I am pretty sure the GOP will be fine with counting them as long as they get to say who actually votes.
We are still battling a document that was designed by rich white men to make sure power resided with rich white men and stayed in the hands of rich white men going forward.
Kakistocracy Konservative Khristians
O/T but the best response to the above:
That is what Pinochet hired Koch darling James Buchanan to do for Chile, and they’re still fighting to undo the structural biases toward the elite and military.
And Buchanan didn’t have Koch’s money, or Fox, or McConnell in Chile.
Chile got rid of Pinochet and it started with a referendum vote on him. The people got rid of Pinochet.
99 out of 100 tyrants end up getting ousted by the people.
I don’t understand your comment. That’s the system we currently have - everyone who resides in the US gets counted, even if they can’t vote. The GOP is not fine with counting non-citizens (at least, not the brown ones), so that’s the crux of the controversy.
Maybe I’ve misinterpreted your comment?
Then Thomas would be disenfranchised as well.
All I wanted to do was suck my drink through a straw. I didn’t expect the Spanish Inquisition…

In red states (say it right), every sperm is counted.
Are you listening, Josh Shapiro? Pennsylvania
You can thank Earl Butz, Nixon’s Agriculture Secretary who famously said, “Get big, or get out.” Merka ain’t got no time for small fry in the farmin’ bidniss.
Certainly won’t the clearest comment I have ever made. What I meant was they would happily count everyone if they could completely control who gets to vote among eligible voters - they have been purging the electorate of people who should be allowed to vote for years, and their goal is an all Republican electorate - at which point they don’t care who is getting counted in the census. I do understand the strategy of reducing representation in urban areas.
Except that “Indians not taxed” count as 0.
I think that clause is very telling, in that it is a direct Constitutional expression of one of the ideals of the Declaration of Independence – that taxation and representation by right should be linked.
Once that is understood, disposing of this nonsense case is easy.
