Census Bureau Puts Out Weird Tweet, Seemingly Flouting Judge’s Order | Talking Points Memo

The Census Bureau said Monday that Secretary Wilbur Ross had set Oct. 5 as a “target date” for finishing the data collection for 2020’s count — an announcement that seems to fly in the face of a federal judge’s order that those operations continue through the end of October.

Do they mean they hope to reach every address by Oct 5? If so, then fine, otherwise keep trying…But if the precedent is that Presidents can flout court orders, then President Biden doesn’t have to worry about a 6-3 court…

Spanky and his toadies have realized that if they simply disregard statutes and ignore court orders, the response from the other branches of government is too slow to make a difference. Because the only date that matters is November 3rd.

No surprise, they have been trying to cheat the Census through the entire process, so flouting a judge’s order is not a big step past that. It goes to show how much respect they have for the law and judicial decisions in reality…if you ignore the decisions that you don’t agree with you’re not interested in law and order, only in dictating things work the way you want.

The end of this administration just can’t come soon enough.

Ross belongs in jail. Contempt should land him there.

And as a bonus, since everything the republicans do is projection, he would no longer be able canabize children to stay alive and would immediately die.

Not an error. This has been made public on purpose. It makes their base cheer. And they need it now.

It doesn’t make it less stupid. But not an error.

The Judge needs to appoint a “Special Master” to take this whole clusterfuck over. Further, the Special Master should report to the Judge but take technical direction from the Speaker of the House, who is the “customer” of the Census for re-apportionment. The Trump administration is either too incompetent and / or too corrupt to finish the 2020 Census.

through the end of October.

Ross can’t tell one end from another - a problem that may come from working with Dumpsterfire for an extended period.

Setting a target date does not technically violate or flout the order. Actually stopping the census count on October 5, on the other hand, could prove to be somewhat problematic for Mr. Ross.

Our door-to-door canvassers have already worked all the safe neighborhoods. The others are just going to have to submit online responses because frankly, it’s frightening out there.

In the city in which I live there are still entire sections where the response rate is below 50%. It’s simply not possible to cease the count next week if a complete count is the goal.
