I wonder how long we’ll have to deal with anti-COVID deniers?

Gee whiz maybe if your current douch of a boss cared enough to give a shit about attacking COVID and supporting common sense measures before it was completely unleashed like a runaway train, like Scott Atlas wanted, we might have had a chance.

If someone had made these points, even in April or May, when there was already good reason to believe them, we may never have come to this pass.
Instead, there was talk about hydroxychloroquine, liberate this and that, the need to open up and restore a vision of normality that was clearly unattainable in existing circumstances, and so on.
Who’s interest was served by this drivel? What was actually gained?
This is a national tragedy that clearly belongs to current occupant and the party that enabled him.

"Biden’s COVID is the worst disaster since Clinton’s 9/11 and Obama’s Katrina!

Meanwhile, Ohio GOP legislators are trying to impeach Governor DeWine for imposing COVID mitigation measures, and the WAPO reports that at least one county in Virginia is voting to reject all mitigation attempts in order to “neutralize Northam.” Are these people stupids or sociopaths or just arrested development “you’re not the boss of me”??

I’ll go with sociopaths: the willingness to endanger others in pursuit of their ends is pathological.
They’re a bunch of sick fucks and should be treated as such.

Out here in Oregon, we’ve seen an oncology nurse go public on social media, bragging about how she never wears a mask outside of work, and a GP going on about how neither he nor his staff have worn masks at any time since the beginning of this emergency( he was a speaker at a local “stop the steal” Trumper rally, surprise, surprise). You just shake your head in dismayed wonder…

And don’t forget how Obama wrecked the economy in '08.

Just got back from reading comments on my NPR station, and I’d say they’re a bit of both. I think the thing that is common to all is that unless it happens to them then they don’t see it.
And there was one poster who claimed her 90 y/o grandfather died, and “they” claimed if was COVID. She wouldn’t tell us what she thought he died of, and who “they” were. This fits into “well they’re old and they’ll die of something soon” camp.
If you show them the annual total of deaths by flu, suicide (not sure why they think an American dies by suicide every minute), or any of the other mortality categories they have no come back.

Sometimes I feel like I was warped into an alternate time line round about November 2000. Went to sleep woke up in a dumber, scarier America that does things like trying to impeach the Gov of Ohio for doing the right thing. So much energy wasted fighting the wrong enemy.

I know this is not Redfield’s direct quote, but still the “developing guidance” horse left the barn 10-11 months ago. The horse was on fire, the barn fell in on the cow. Little Johnny was hiding in the loft. It’s a fucking shit show.

Redfield added that the CDC is developing guidance for institutions and workplaces to assist them in strategically deploying testing.

I’d like to see him pursued through the halls of Congress to get an answer to this question. These guys never get held accountable for their outrages.

Officials in rural Va. county pass resolution rejecting virus restrictions

The board of supervisors in deeply red Campbell County voted unanimously in favor of ordering local authorities not to enforce the Democratic governor’s mandates limiting gatherings and businesses.

The governor’s restrictions are not very strict in my opinion.

All public and private in-person gatherings are now limited to just 25 people, all Virginians ages five and over are required to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces.

The on-site sale, consumption, and possession of alcohol is prohibited after 10 p.m. in any restaurant, dining establishment, food court, brewery, microbrewery, distillery, winery, or tasting room and those establishments must close by midnight.

What in the bloody hell is wrong with people?

I’ve been quietly freaking out at the Pennsylvania new-infection numbers. We’ve had several days lately that were four times as bad as the worst it got in the spring. Four times.

Hmm, now that’s an odd way to say “Virus will disappear after the election.”
