CDC Issues Dire Warning On Next Few Months: ‘Most Difficult In Public Health History’ | Talking Points Memo

Can Redfield resign already?

Can a class action law suit and separate law suits by State AGs from neighboring states be filed against the State of SD? If you want to get these anti-vaxxer, fake tough guy libertarian types to shut up, sue them out of existence.

Its accelerating warp speed and nipping at all our heels now. Never felt more at risk than I feel today.

As long as people still think the earth is flat, and as long as people still think Mitch has American’s best interests in his heart. Unless and until he does something to help people get by, Covid will remain a farce in far too many people’s minds. He is the primary perpetrator for this disease.

A friend sent me an article. I tell you, if I wasn’t afraid before, this was a very frightening article to read. You don’t want to have to go to a hospital. It is or soon will be beyond control.

Anyone here know about rental law? My wife and I were booked to go to Grayton Beach, FL last April, and then we went into lockdown. Through VRBO we negotiated with the owner to bump it to April 2021 because he refused to offer a refund. Now, April is around the corner, Florida is on covid fire and who knows whether my wife and I (both over 70) will have received the full course of vaccines and reached the safety zone by April. We want to cancel and get a refund, citing Florida’s recklessness, and the owner is refusing to refund. Any advice? Sorry to ask here but the only lawyers I know work in health care! I should add, we live in MD and would have to fly to FL.

That’s rhetorical, is it not?

These are not draconian rules in anyway. But its still not good enough for this bunch of loons. Freedom ain’t free right boys. If a few people have to die thats the cost of doing business. Psst rural VA county…Darwin was already proven right you don’t have to test the theory out for yourselves.

I don’t know about VRBO, but I had an Airbnb in AZ and beyond what the rules were, if someone had a legit reason (medical) to cancel, of course, I refunded their money. Go on a VRBO comments site to see what people are asking. It might be up to an individual to do the right thing. If he’s refusing to refund there might not be anything you can do.
A lot of people count on the money from rentals and you can imagine a lot of people are in a world of hurt. I’m not making excuses for them.

Who feels better about that? McConnell, or Putin?

Looks like 8,654 new cases in PA today on worldometer, couple hours still to go. I think about it when I go anywhere.

  1. I Am Not A Lawyer. This is not legal advice.

  2. VRBO has published a COVID-19 Emergency Policy, but based on what you say, you’re outside of that time window (covers bookings made before March 13th).

  3. That said, you might encourage the owner to read this and consider a modification to their policy.

Work at a hospital and it all became real when over night outside my office window they installed 2 white refrigerated trailers that just hummed all day. My back is to the window but the presense of those trailers over my shoulder was a constant mortality reminder like a wraith. I do t want to see or hear those again.

CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield on Wednesday sounded the alarm on the next few months of the COVID-19 pandemic, which he warned will be among “the most difficult in the public health history of this nation.”

Thanks a lot, Dr. Redfield, for telling us about the crappy job you have been part of for the last few years, and I hope you will do everything you can during the rest of your life to make it all up to the 277,000+ (to date) people who have died from Covid-19, and the others who have experienced serious consequences due to COVID-19 from contracting COVID-19, and to all the families and friends of those who have died. At least partially due because of your inaction. I just cannot take anything that comes out of your mouth as credible or as compassionate to those in this country whose health was impacted by your faulty decisions, because you chose to serve the absolutely worst administration in our history. You truly dishonor all of us.

Thanks. This house is booked solid for 2021 and he raised his rates hugely so he would surely be able to rent it out again with his new ripoff rates.

Not sure if signatures are being collected yet but there is a movement to recall Gavin Newsom.

Trump made sure this would be a catastrophe for the country by refusing to LEAD. If I have to go for over a year without seeing my son and his family (55 miles from us), I will be quite angry and pissed off. My dog could have done a better job than the ass in the WH.

Not a lawyer, but I have rented through VRBO many times. As I understand it, you need to buy vacation/trip insurance for that sort of thing. It would be nice if the owners did the right thing, but if you’re past the full or partial refund date, you’re out of luck.

Damn, they’re good.

I’ve been watching the Arizona map of Covid cases by zip code. My zip code’s cases have nearly doubled in the last 4-6 weeks. There are 55,000 residents, and currently about 1537 total cases have been tracked in the zip code boundary since the start of record keeping. In any case, it’s a pretty big increase for that amount of time.
