Cawthorn Charged With Driving With A Revoked License

Were Cawthorn’s skin black, there is a good chance he would have been shot in the back.

Oh, yes, the divorce… Wasn’t she a Russian mail-order bride?

I am disappointed that none of the fine contributors here have found it in themselves to post a photo of his future ex. I would, but I enjoy it more when she pops up semi-random.

He lost his woman, his drivers license, and pretty soon, his House seat. He’s having about as tough a time as his patron - Putin.

Sounds like a country and western song in the making.

So his license was revoked-- why?
I thought driving when your license has been revoked was really serious, like you lose the license for years.

20 days in the pokey isn’t serious?

Lead foot indeed. But that expression must refer to some other part of Cawthorn’s anatomy seeing he’s paralyzed waist down from an auto accident when he was a passenger in a friend’s car. As @timtoday said, one would think Cawthorn would be extra cautious while driving but apparently the life lesson has been lost.

Let’s hope he doesn’t take anyone else with him

You talking about **Jason Ravnsborg? South Dakota AG?
Killed a man, drove off, called 911 to say he’d hit a deer (why would you call 911 for that?), walked around with sheriff friend looking for “deer”, body not discovered till the next day when the AG’s blood alcohol level would presumably be down to normal… man’s GLASSES found inside his car (meaning, presumably, the poor man’s head went through the windshield)…
And got a minor fine and even the meager community service recommendation was dismissed.

No, Maddie didn’t live up to the example of his GOP elder-- but give him a few years, and he’ll be hitting-and-running too.

Odds are reduced for that as of today, because some NC cops did their job.

I have complete faith in him receiving a light sentence because he is a House member. I also have complete faith in him learning nothing from this. He is a young man and will have many more opportunities to go off the rails.

Little Maddy was driving. The stupid shit is a congresscritter. Why is he he driving?

He’s also a repeat offender, and a marked man who is not popular with the GoP insiders in his district and nearby districts.

Serious question - here are the “facts” as reported

pulled over March 3, 2022 at 10:26 p.m.
trooper saw a 2019 Toyota Truck cross the center line of the road.
it was determined that the driver’s license was in a state of revocation

October, 2021 … Cawthorn received a speeding citation for going 89 mph in a 65-mph zone in Buncombe County.

January, 2022… a trooper stopped Cawthorn for driving at 87 mph in a 70-mph zone in Polk

Cawthorn was previously charged with driving while his license was revoked before he entered office in 2017. The charge was later dismissed.

So with this history … and the hour & the "crossing of the center line "

Why was there no mention of a breathalyzer exam having been conducted - would seem more than be appropriate given the circumstances … unless it is "don’t look for what you don’t want to find.

He was paralyzed from the neck up at birth.

Allegedly he was in the passenger seat laying back with his feet on the dashboard when the accident happened. More, proof of the neck up thing.

That will be his next career move.
