Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s recent comments about white supremacy being a “hoax” have driven off yet more advertisers from his show, leaving him with significantly fewer commercial spots than he had this time last year.
Unbreakable contracts? Isn’t that a Harry Potter thing? Is Fox now using witchcraft?
Even if this were true that they already had committed to the slots there is nothing saying they must fill them with ads about a specific product. They could use those spots to read a statement of condemnation or maybe work with John Oliver to come up with something spectacular.
I am not sorry that I am not sorry about his problems. I boycott supporters of Amerikkan Pravda. Free markets after all. Thoughts and prayers for my conversion.
I’ve made comments here that as a general rule people should shun and avoid Republicans, because generally speaking what they espouse and believe in is harmful and damaging to the long term prospects of the nation. Of course it’s met with the usual “That’s shortsighted and mean-spirited, you need to stay engaged with them and help steer them around to a more progressive, inclusive, emphathetic way of thinking.”
So, are the advertisers pulling ads from Carlson’s show wrong? Should they be engaging with him? Should they be trying to make him see the light and change his ways? Should they continue to give him money in the form of ad buys, despite his hate and vitriol, in the spirit of getting along and hoping he’ll experience, with their help and patience, an epiphany?
