Truthfully, I’m not sure it matters. Lula is and has been a crook. He’s as corrupt as TFG in Brazil. He’s also embracing BRIC, which makes a strong counterpoint to western democracies. Soon Iran, Turkey and few other despotic countries are hoping to get in.
I don’t see much positive change in Brazil. Like so many places, everything needs to be dismantled and started over again.

Motion detectors outside a house can be annoyingly triggered by stray animals or birds. Motion detectors are good inside the house for alerting if an intruder comes in at night, but not if you have pets roaming the house. A Ring, Google, or other camera can recognize people either inside or outside the house, but I don’t know if the Pelosi house has that
I think what happened here is that the Pelosi family assumed her personal protection detail was sufficient, that she was the only potential target, so no extra measures were taken when she was away from home. Paul Pelosi wasn’t the primary target for the attack; the intruder assumed Nancy was at home when he broke in.
The Pelosi family are probably rethinking the security situation, but tight security can be hard to live with. Not everyone wants to be followed around by a rotating group of strangers, and too much electronic protection can be annoying too.

With the Right’s insistence on “local” control I can see that in the long run they want this country to be divided into smaller fiefdoms. I realize that this is a dystopian view, but that genre is a warning of possibilities to come.
With Petty gone I don’t want to live a country like “The Mailman”, with climate change “Waterworld”, most certainly “The Handmaid’s Tale”.
Because if this happens what will we call what was once the United States of America? Would Canada or Mexico try to reclaim some new territory? How about Russia?
