Buttigieg Hits Back At Biden Ad | Talking Points Memo

It didn’t take long for Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg to hit back at Joe Biden shortly after the former vice president released his new campaign ad ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.

Impressive and funny. Someone on the Biden team has finally decided to hit back. Well done.

Biden’s ad slams Buttigieg in a stinging and funny way. All the comments online are positive, yet the headline here is what? Think we can all figure out which candidate TPM is pushing?

Snarky and reeks of desperation.

Who is advising Biden?

Glad to see experience or lack of as an issue. Legitimate. More needs to be made of the risks of throwing everything out for something new. 20th century history gives us the lesson.

I guess Joe’s ad struck a nerve, lol. Someone with a great sense of humor has stepped up for Biden. Time someone pointed out how arrogant it is for a 40-year old with no meaningful experience to be so presumptuous as to make running for president of the United States of America his first pick for national office. Arrogance and disdain for the intelligence of others is what the Buttigieg campaign reeks of. Joe’s just pointing it out.

We have now entered the “pissbaby” phase of their rivalry.

Snarky but good compare and contrast ad from Biden camp.

Now do the same against Trump because that is who Biden or any other D/I candidate need to defeat. It is the Criminal IMPotus that deserve to have his cruelty, corruption and criminality be plastered for all to see!

BTW, while I understand that Biden is competing with Buttigieg and others, I did not expect Biden to air this ad the day after Buttigieg defended his son during the debate!

Someone needs to tell Pete that whining after taking a blow is not a good look. You got a response? Hit back with your own ad. That’s how you do it. You have the money. Spend it proving your experience and readiness for the job.

I’d say it’s more down and dirty and that does speak of desperation. At the same time, I’m afraid it’s an effective ad. It will do damage.

These two fighting like two people in an unhappy marriage are going to regret providing the mud for oppo researchers. It’s a pissing contest writ large and infinitely useless and pointless.

If anything it proves the exact opposite and that they’re more concerned with their bruised egos and that they’re unqualified for the nomination

OTOH - Biden’s generation is why we are in the situation that we are in.

Boomers don’t have to go away mad, but they do need to go away.

Remember the date and time you wrote this because it’s going to be worth repeating when someone other than either of the Bs gets the nomination. It’s unseemly and like the LOL used to say in the ad, “Where’s the beef?”

I think it may be pointless for Buttigieg, I don’t think he has a chance of getting through the Southern primaries, but Biden still has a glimmer of a chance, so…well, desperate measures. The more Obama gained in 2008, the nastier the attacks became. It’s kind of classic and shouldn’t come as a surprise.

It even has its own name. Taking off the gloves. Again, no surprise.

So I agree with you that Biden has the Huge advantage of his VP experience, but his appeal is predicated on being a unity candidate. Running an attack ad at this point IMHO cedes the unity candidate label to others.

For me, putting his arm around Bernie — that’s the maturity that Biden needs to project. This seems like a version of an ad Trump might use against Pete.

Biden looks weak punching down. Ridicule is not a good approach especially when you came in fourth.

All true again, but it will still do damage and since that was the intent, I have to say it’s a successful ad.

to hit back

Out west, the boys call this “Saturday night.”

Actually, that’s what his response did.

And I sat that acknowledging that it’s an effective ad.

The reason we are in this situation is that this generation, and the last few generations don’t get of their lazy asses and vote. They are happy to reap the benefits of other generations who did the heavy lifting and got their heads bashed trying to make a better world. Now these inexperienced, arrogant young people want the experienced older people who fought for American democracy to go away. Get outta here! If these young folks like Pete want to inherit the job of leading America, too bad. They have to go get some real experience and come back when they have earned the right to be called leaders. You don’t get to lead America just because you think it’s your birthright.
