Bolton Was Against Ukraine Pressure | Talking Points Memo

This was too much, even for John Bolton.

Trump’s former national security adviser makes multiple cameos in Ambassador William Taylor’s bombshell House testimony Tuesday.

First a White House meeting, then add in military assistance.
Moving the goal posts is standard in the Trump/Reactionary playbook and, so, the story is utterly credible.
Of course, if it was Nunes, it’s be ‘udderly,’ but there’s no reason to go there here.
Not yet, anyway: Devin’s been markedly unheard from of late.

OT but notable:

They covered up the “Trump” with a tarp – which wasn’t big enough, so you still see the “T”:

Interesting snippets from the article:

“They have finally gotten the message,” Mr. Croft said, that the president “would be better off not having his name on it.”

The contract under which the Trump Organization operates the rinks, Mr. Levine noted, is set to expire in early 2021. The move to obscure Mr. Trump’s ties to two popular public amenities was meant to ease the path to renewing that contract, he said.

“They don’t want the public to associate the Trump name with these properties,” he said. “They know that there would be too much public pressure against renewal.”

The “brand” is now radioactive – and will probably continue to disappear. Betcha it’ll be totally gone in the not too distant future.

Fortunately for us a perfect analogy: his cover ups don’t seem to be quite big enough, either.

The Extortionist-In-Chief tweeted that he informed Bolton that his services were no longer needed and

“I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions…”

According to NPR, Bolton and Trump clashed over Bolton’s “aggressive positions on Venezuela, North Korea and Afghanistan” because Trump wasn’t as eager to continue or get into confrontations.

I guess that was NOT the main reason why Bolton was ‘fired’ or resigned after all…the disagreed strongly part was most likely Ukrainegate…

Solicitation wrt to election from Ukraine then later China + Coverup by hiding the transcript + Quid Pro Quo/Extortion using Congress appropriated aid for Personal Gain = all that just wrt to Ukraine!

If Ukrainegate was to much for Bolton, what would he think wrt to Turkey and the Extorionist-In-Chief facilitation of the genocide of our allies?

When is Bolton going to testify in Congress?

Other than his money laundering ring and pillaging the US taxpayer, this was his only real money maker. Screw impeachment, this will set him off quicker than a blowtorch at a gas station.

Yup.

How many floors of the UN building did Bolton said could be removed without anyone noticing? And yet, the circumventing of traditional, nation-to-nation diplomatic channels was too much.

Like Trump, Bolton thinks of policy in transactional terms–Bolton just wants them done via the usual ways. The difference here is one of degree.

What is the likelihood that a Trump goal, under pressure from Putin, had been to withhold the funds until after the government’s fiscal year end on Sept 30?

Stop and think about it… From a strategic, geopolitical point of view, Russia had gained little from its assisting in Trump’s election. The end of a Mueller investigation threat to Trump coincides with the Zelensky phone call. Was Putin getting impatient with Trump and pushing for a gain on the ground?

When the funds for Ukraine were released in Sept, robbing Putin of a gain timed to the fiscal year end, did Trump feel that he must provide Putin with an alternative geopolitical gain?

Should we understand Trump’s action in October of withdrawing troops from Syria as an attempt to satisfy Putin’s press for a concrete geopolitical benefit?

The explanation that Trump’s decision re: troop withdrawal from Syria had something to do with “the last person he spoke with was Erdogan”, i.e., Trump is erratic, is a useful screen for a darker explanation…

Putin is now pressing him for significant geopolitical gains for Russia…

When you have John Bolton as the most ethical sane person in a position of power, it’s time to go back to sleep and perchance to hope it was all but a dream.

Wake me up when it’s 1974 again.

Is Bolton the kind of person who likes to exact sweet revenge? A few more tweets by Trump and Bolton could be ready to finish off Trump.

My question is, what was Bolton’s position on Syria and our troops with the Kurds. That may be a factor.

What I found so amusing about the uncovered “T” is that the “rump” was covered.

CYA at its best. Literally.

What’s really interesting is that it was the Trump Org themselves who made this decision!!!

Up to now all the buildings that have removed the name have been other people’s property where the name was leased. But now the company itself is acknowledging that the name is radioactive.

Poor Beavis and Butthead. Ivankadonk can always change her name to Kushner to get away from it, but they’re stuck with it.

Personally, I think they are all vindictive sumbitches, so I can see Bolton, or heck, any of 'em, taking revenge.

Not likely. They can make:Trump brand disposable straws exclusively for Chick-fil-A. Trump brand tiki torches (great for bbq’s and white power rallies). Trump brand bump stocks for Trump brand licensed AR15’s. Trump brand crucifixes and manger scenes (featuring Ivanka!) for the prosperity Xtians. There’s an endless variety of products they can make for the discriminating (no pun intended) Confederate shopper.

Just wait until Spankee officially becomes a loser. Nobody likes a loser. Well, except other losers…

Okay, you may have a point.

Ugh, sort of foreshadowing you’d expect from a freshman English major maybe…

Yes.
This reminds me, in fact, of the Trump Brothers’ attempt, shortly after the election, to start a new hotel company called Scion, the name intended, in part, to create some corporate distance from Dad.

John Bolton’s mindset is firmly rooted in the Cold War era. That tRump would push for psychological operations to be perpetrated against the American people for the benefit of Russia must have been anathema to every fiber of Bolton’s being.

For once I see some benefit to having repugnant anachronisms like Bolton around. He does not seem to have any ambition to build a Bolton Tower near the Kremlin.

Despite Trump’s insistence that the policy was “no quid pro quo”, it has become clear that the actual policy was to speak the words “no quid pro quo” while engineering a quid pro quo.

Comically inept.
