Bolton Was Against Ukraine Pressure | Talking Points Memo

If Bolton didn’t do anything to stop the drug deal, he’s part of the drug deal. I am willing to keep an open mind until the facts are all in and revealed, and maybe I will be pleasantly shocked to find that he’s been Trumps’s Deep Throat, but if the totality of his actions were pouty meeting cancellations and snarky comments, he needs to go down with the rest of them.

But at least he gave the “not a quid pro quo” the catchy name of “drug deal”.

I suspect Bolton is sitting there with his can of kerosene and a match waiting for the right moment. Trump thought he was immune. He thought he could shit on people like Bolton who is as big an asshole as he is

Everywhere we read Taylor’s testimony is the turning point in the impeachment investigation. The biggest, most important nail in Trump’s coffin. Does no good to deny bad deeds were committed, it’s all out in the open now, for all the world, and most importantly Trump’s own party, to see.

Well, Trump’s party says it’s no big deal. Trump is getting a raw deal. He’s the victim here. And he’ll still be standing, and running for reelection for the entirety of the next year. Might even win.

I think the true turning point in all this is there are no more turning points. We’re a lawless, depraved, uncaring nation. Criminality is ignored, if not outright rewarded. That is what is there for everyone to see.

Bolton knew that it was completely political and had nothing to do with anyone’s national security.

Really, they couldn’t quite get something to coverup the whole word, so that’s the way they left it, with the “T”. Totally tells you how this whole organization is run.

I guess Nixon could have sold his name to VHS and Betamax rental stores.

We’re talking about a lot of rump to cover here.

Bolton depends on the loyalty and support of the GOP grift machine now. And that grift machine, at least for awhile, has its balls firmly in the grasp of Trump. Bolton needs speaking engagements, book tours, consulting fees. Shitting on Trump in a House committee hearing will be the death knell of his grift. I can see him telling committees Trump has invoked executive privilege and instructed him to not appear. And if subpoenaed in response, taking the fifth, or be so tight lipped and non-responsive as to render his testimony nearly worthless.
Bolton is not the person that will nail this case shut for the Dems.

Unfortunately, I think you nailed it. With the MAGA crowd,he can do no wrong. Think about it. Banging a porn star while his wife was pregnant and paying her hush money didn’t even faze the Evangelical Right.

Funny-ha-ha!

As for funny-peculiar: Do you get the sense that, if Ukraine and Russia were not actually engaged in hostilities, Trump’s hare-brained extortion scheme might not have attracted some of the internal opposition that it did?

I believe that too, but I also believe that he is probably wealthy enough that he could get out of the game and live very comfortably without the grift.

He also got some White House lawyers (the still-semi-uncorrupted ones) involved.

But, yes, we’ll soon see how he plays his hand.

I wondered the exact same thing. Benadick Donnie two scoops thinks of deals in “I win, you loose” terms. That is his “art”, don’t pay up as much as possible. And, they played this along to bring it up to the end of the government fiscal year.

At the end, Benadick Donnie two scoops might have just called Ukraine corrupt and undeserving of aid.

yeah, I saw an article on Scion and the other POS chain they’re trying to launch and it’s pretty much dead in the water. When your brand is faux upscale, then going down scale ain’t gonna cut it in a massively crowded market.

Nor did bragging about the ability to commit sexual assault with impunity, due to his wealth, power and fame. Nor disparaging a decorated veteran and POW because he succumbed to the fatal character flaw of being captured by the enemy. Nor claiming SOME white supremacists are good people, after a riot they instigated resulted in death and mayhem. Nor stealing childen from their parents, putting them in filthy, overcrowded animal cages, then losing records of everyone’s whereabouts for future reunitings.

All the above is no big deal to the Evangelicals, or anyone else with an ® appended to their party affiliation. So, no, proving Trump is a sociopath, a criminal and a man bereft of morals will do no good. Those very qualities are what drove 63,000,000 to vote for him.

Ugh is so harsh! I’d give that kid a B+, at least.

Needs to be career “deep stater” (translation: patriot who cares) in DOJ who can peel off Barr with a mondo whistleblow blast. IMHO, once Barr is hamstrung, it all tumbles apart.

LeBron James doesn’t play basketball because he needs the money. He plays it because he loves the game, and to stay relevant, and to keep his name and face out there, as opposed to sliding into retirement and anonymity. It’s the same for Bolton and his grifting. He genuinely wants to influence the direction of policy, and the grift circuit keeps him in front of people and being heard. The money is but the gravy.

I have to say that Donald Trump has added yet another reason for me to want him out of our lives: making me root for John Bolton.
