Do the CDC Guidelines mention anything at all about how dangerous it is for people to be singing together indoors? If not, the guidelines are worthless.
It’s infuriating journalistic malpractice, that nobody has asked Dr. Birx or Dr. Fauci about that topic of people singing together indoors. It’s how 40-some people got infected and two died in Mt. Vernon WA, from a choir practice in the early days of the pandemic. Church services are different from other activities and they need different rules, like not singing. Because most people won’t wear masks when they sing.
It’s not really surprising. These are the folks who have always insisted that the death of school children was just the price we had to pay for their gun fetish.
I’m waiting for word from a UMC church I used to attend over in Minnesota - it is a primarily older congregation - very few kids in the children’s sermon on a weekly basis and maybe less than 15 kids in the entire of the Sunday school program. I haven’t heard the report from that bishop yet, as I reported above from the Wisconsin bishop - even though they are next door, they are in different conferences, I believe.
Birx needs to run one in, doing a somersault across the line of scrimmage and getting kicked in the stomach if that’s what it takes, kicked in the wherever. It’s time to strap on the cup and say clearly: It is unsafe to gather in groups more than ten. Do not go to that beach party. Do not attend that church dance. Forgo the fajitas and beer at that beer jardin. Wear a mask at the grocery store. Do not play Twister. If you must play with balls, play only with your own and nobody else’s. Go ahead and use a marker on them it that gives you a feeling of extra protection, but I say if you are around people who are looking hard at balls that are not their own, trying to identify distinguishing marks, then, well, you may wish to reposition the center and enlarge the radius of your social distance circle.
Not sure, but the Wisconsin church AND another church I attend when I am at the farm have both noted this.
The church in CT may well revert to its bell choir because we can ring at a distance of six feet from each other and not emit any liquid into the air. Simply set the bell tables up around the perimeter of the sanctuary and the ringers can wear masks while ringing.
It’s all a shell game. Birx points a finger at the hapless CDC, who may well blame HHS, who may turn around and blame the State Department. But what do these Departments have in common? They work for one Donald J. Trump. He may not accept responsibility, but responsibility is knocking on his front door and coming in -invited or otherwise.
