I have no doubt that the material will be there - someone will just need to realize the potential and pick it up and use it. But there is so much that can be used against them in attack ads that it will get boring after awhile.

The North End is still more or less the North End, though it is busier now than before. But that is true of much of the downtown area. The waterfront is being developed, but you can probably imagine the squabbling related to that…
Excavation work for the tunnel and artery displaced a plague of rats, which had to find new quarters somewhere.
The new sewage treatment plant and outfall tunnel improved the water quality in the harbor, perhaps beyond anyone’s hope (but don’t stir up the mud; that is still a toxic mess).

And one of the reasons I get a bit peeved with people who blandly suggest things have gone too far and only a revolution can make matters better. I feel like telling them to go find one, live through it, and tell me how much of a positive experience it was.

Yeah I agree. It’s another infantile fantasy that just won’t go away. Historically, revolutions have not produced the desired result very damned often. The situation is always way more apt to lead to the kind of chaos in which a power vacuum develops and a strongman walks into it. Time after time.
