I would bet you a tidy sum that 90 percent of the people in that party would talk like common-sense centrists on any topic the instant it was politically expedient to do so. I think that’s what this is, tbh.

It’s hard to feel sorry for someone when they are burned by the fire they helped start. This guy voted with the GQP’s Dear Leader 92% of the time prior to this.
It has been no secret that the current Republican Party eats its own, eventually, and none of them will ever be MAGA enough to prevent this. No matter what they do.

West Virginia is losing a house seat due to a 3% decline in population. The congressman seems sincere about supporting the BIF but he knows that his seat might be in jeopardy due to redistricting. Bringing some projects home might save his butt.

Those GOPers belly aching over the backlash they are getting from their own party are in my view the real hypocrites.
The only unifying theme to the current GOP is hatred of Democrats. If they don’t get this they are idiots. If they do get this, which they obviously do from several of their other votes, I have not checked by did any of the 13 vote not to certify the election, against a commission to look into 1/6, or several other votes where a unanimous GOP opposed the most mundane and obvious legislation like increasing the debt ceiling just to make it more difficult for Joe Biden and Democrats to govern.
If a GOPer has issues with the only unifying theme of the GOP, blind hatred and opposition to Democrats even when it harmful to America or downright against the constitution, then they should not be in the GOP.
But to remain in the GOP and complain about the only reason you were likely elected is hypocrisy.
