Biden Tests Positive For COVID, White House Announces

He tried urging, they booed him, he dropped it. Leadership.

May have been a bad feedback loop. He based his policies on what his traveling circus applauded.

There is a lab working on an mRNA style vax for multiple variants in one shot. That would be the game changer we need.

I’m an introvert and retired so I’m actually happy for the first time in my life. I go to the grocery story when it opens to avoid crowds and wear my N95. I’ve been going fishing several days a week before the sun comes up and it’s completely peaceful.

Just looking at the good things.

what about the nasal spray vaccine… have you heard any news on that? A while ago when I read about it, I got the idea that they were hoping a nasal vaccine would be better at reducing spread, if it targets the virus in your nasal passages rather than bloodstream (kinda like how the oral polio vaccine works in the gut vs. the injected polio vaccine). But I haven’t heard any recent updates about how that development is going.

I desperately want to go on vacations again. And I resent those who made certain that Covid would continue to have new variants by not wearing masks.

That would be too wonderful. But further to what you said about the B cells and second line defense against Covid, what I should have said in response is that I want as strong a first line defense as I can possibly get. I don’t want this thing anywhere near my lungs.

But I have some hopes centering around the potential of nasal spray vaccines too.

@susanintheoc

I know what you’re saying. I really miss traveling.

@teenlaqueefa

I’m a bit of an introvert myself. Or rather, a loner. But there’s solitude and then there’s isolation. Big difference.

I’m also freaking sick of the mask. I live in NYC and it’s risk everywhere and I have to mask too damned much. Now in the heat I get home and take the freaking thing off and my face looks like I’m suffering from heat prostrations.

I meant have they approved 5 shots?

You know what? There’s no point in wait until August, I need/want it for my trip, they aren’t going to have the Omicron booster ready before August so I’ll do the booster now and get my Flu Shot in August before I leave

At the beginning of the pandemic I did not mind staying home. Lots of books to read. I have probably read two hundred or so books since March 2020. A year after the pandemic began, we visited as many botanical gardens as we could find within an hour’s drive. I want my life back.

That completely sucks, I guess I have it pretty easy compared to folks like you.

I know what you meant and I said they wouldn’t approve a shot that is still in development and not ready to be distributed, but I have no doubt they will approve it when the shot is ready.

And I’d say the new plan you added above sounds good. Get protection for your trip. :+1:

Just saw this. I got my second booster last week. I wear my mask whenever I’m out shopping etc.

Yes I read about the nasal spray version. And also an oral version.
Moderna has a bivalent vaccine. But I know others are chasing something similar for more variants in one shot. The chemistry is very tricky and may not work out.

I know for a fact that those involved are busting their asses 24/7 to get this on board.
And watch for trump to try to steal credit.

Thanks for this, it’s basically confirming everything I thought. I’m 48, so technically still can’t get my second booster. I got the first booster at the end of Nov, so it’s been a while. They are certainly taking their time approving it for under-50s. It just doesn’t seem to be that important to them. Maybe they’ll get around to it by the time i actually turn 50. :slightly_frowning_face:

I think the data aren’t sufficient to give the ok for boosting if you’re under 50 unless you have other risk factors. Your young age probably gives you better protection!

I’ve heard of people going to a local pharmacy where they’re giving Covid boosters, saying they have asthma or diabetes, and getting the second booster with no questions asked. Just a thought. It’s what I’d do if I hadn’t already qualified on the age limit.

Well, they’ve got to get the talking points sent out first, and someone has to type that stuff up.

Yeah, Vlad has shown us the way. No reason to be chained to to such 19th century conceptions as the laws of war.
And, no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to Putin’s ideas and practices: we should certainly be allowed to take what works without being tarred by the rest of thee package.

I’m sure there will be a pivot to the offensive Doocy lad question. “Did Jill give it to you from the Chinese food?”

There’s a lot of evidence that Paxlovid should be a longer course.

Especially since so few people are getting them. You’re not jumping the line on someone who’s not going to get theirs because of you. There’s more than enough to go around.
